Two Million Join the General Strike, Shutting Down Italy

According to the CGIL union, two million people joined the mobilizations and 60% of the country’s workers supported the strike. The demonstrators filled the streets, blockaded highways and ports, expressing their support for Palestine.

Yesterday a strike was called by the unions in Italy. Millions of people filled the streets, blockaded the country and clashed with the repressive forces which wanted to prevent the actions in solidarity with Palestine. Hundreds of trains were canceled or delayed, as were several domestic flights, and many private and public schools also closed.

Actions for Palestine are still going on today, as the whole world is protesting the Israeli crimes. The activists from Per la Democrazia Popolare distributed leaflets in the marches of 3rd and 4th of October:

300,000 people filled the streets of Rome, denounced the genocide and expressed solidarity with the Global Sumud Flotilla:

There are reports that estimate at least 20,000 protesters in Bari, and around 150,000 in Sicily. Highways have been blocked in many other cities, such as Trento, Perugia, among others.
