Ecuador: Noboa Government Bombs Imbabura
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a new statement by the Defense Front of the People’s Struggles in Ecuador (FDLP-EC) on the current situation of the indigenous-people’s uprising in the country.
Continuing a repressive line that goes beyond all expectations, the criminal and fascist government of Daniel Noboa has literally bombed the mountains of Buenos Aires, in the province of Imbabura, applying a policy of “scorched earth” against everything and everyone that has been decreed as its ‘enemies’.
There are no historical precedents of a bombing of this magnitude within of the national territory. Armed vehicles, BM-21 multiple projectile launchers, recoilless guns, mortars and, as if that were not enough, bombs launched from Super Tucano jet fighters have devastated large areas of forest and peasant areas of Buenos Aires. The official pretext: to destroy illegal mine entrances and “combat terrorism.”
As if seeking to legitimize himself before the centers of imperialist power, Noboa dedicated this action to Donald Trump, in a conceited message on the X network, “President Trump, Ecuador remains firm in the global fight against drug trafficking and illegal mining, challenges that demand unity among nations committed to peace and prosperity..”. Showing obedience, submission and a willingness to lick the boots of Washington. It’s no coincidence: the Ecuadorian regime reproduces the strategies of “preventive counterinsurgency” impulsed by the United States Southern Command, framed in the doctrine of hemispheric security.
The brutality of these attacks is not surprising. Noboa, the Armed Forces, the police and their entire repressive/terrorist structures have acted with the same pattern of violence during the indigenous and people’s uprising: the use of live ammunition, indiscriminate use of tear gas, attack helicopters, tanks, arbitrary arrests, raids, mutilations and murders. Everything corresponds to a strategy of internal war designed to break the resistance of the people and consolidate a subordinate authoritarian state model completely to imperialism.
It is not a coincidence that these events happen in the context of global imperialism and the politics of Zionism, which today bombs entire peoples, from Palestine to the Caribbean, under the same argument of “fighting against terrorism.” The comprador bourgeoisie reproduces this logic, adapting it to its scale, transforming the country into a military, extractivist and social control.
People of Ecuador: we are facing a regime of unprecedented characteristics, headed by an individual who rules the country as one of his estates, with the authoritarianism of a feudal master and the impunity granted by his class. Noboa is not only a state terrorist, but also the local executor of the repressive policies of US imperialism and Zionism. Its objective is not limited to fulfilling the mandates of the IMF, but also convert Ecuador from a semi-colony into a full colony, subjected militarily, economically and politically.
