New Actions in the People’s Wars in the Philippines
Several actions carried out in the framework of the People’s Wars in the Philippines have been reported in the recent weeks by the Philippine Revolution Web Central (PRWC).
A unit of the New People’s Army (NPA)-Leyte fired at the troops of the old Philippine State in the town of Javier, island of Leyte, on October 15. The 14th Infantry Battalion (IB) faced many casualties while they were carrying out a “clearing operation” in the area. The NPA-Leyte has also condemned the manipulations by the State’s army, which claim that they confiscated NPA’s military equipment on this same day. The NPA stated that the old State’s soldiers “planted guns” and made a picture, pretending that they achieved a victory when news of their defeat spread.
On October 16 an intelligence agent of the 93rd IB was eliminated by the NPA-Leyte. Previously a People’s Court decided to impose the death penalty on the agent, who participated in a long list crimes, such as preparing routes for State troops to enter and exit an area during an attack against the NPA. The NPA already warned him in 2012 to stop helping the old State, but he ignored the warnings.
In the island of Negros the NPA carried out several actions. Various intel assets surrendered to the People’s Army in Negros Occidental during October. They confessed their mission and duties. The surrender was accepted as they have not been involved yet in any blood crime against the people. NPA soldiers launched a harassment operation against 94th IB troops in South Central Negros on the night of October 27. At least two soldiers were injured. The most recent action took place on November 6, when an intelligence asset was eliminated in Negros Occidental. The agent was involved in the killing of the spokesperson of the NPA-Negros Island, Ka Juanito Magbanua (Romeo Nanta) in 2022.
