The Mural Newspaper reports that on November 25, “the International Day Against Patriarchal Violence and Colonialism was commemorated, in memory of the Mirabal sisters,” with demonstrations in at least 16 states in Mexico.

Barricades and riot police were deployed in Mexico City and Oaxaca. Despite the repressive measures, tens of thousands took to the streets in the capital. A rally was held with speeches calling for a ceasefire in Palestine, Ukraine, and Sudan. Before that several graffiti were made.

In the morning, hundreds took to the streets in Oaxaca, and women mobilized by the People’s Women’s Movement (MFP) joined the march called by the CNTE, a call recently published by Sol Rojo Mexico.

Graffiti was created against imperialism and patriarchal violence.

In the afternoon, a demonstration was called to denounce the government of Salomón Jara, during which 280 women have been murdered and 1,139 are missing in his three years in office. Actions included graffiti and the putting up of posters. There were statements made “against the genocide in Palestine, the Congo, Rwanda, Ecuador, Sudan, and Somalia.”
