Switzerland: Rally in Basel Against Well-Type Prisons

On December 19 a rally was held in Basel, on occasion of the prison massacre of December 19, against the well-type prisons, Avrupa Haber reports. Several democratic and revolutionary organizations rallied and protested against the construction of Y and S type prisons. A press conference was held at Claraplatz in Basel, called by the Platform for Solidarity with Revolutionary Prisoners.

The press release was issued in both German and Turkish. The report published by Avrupa Haber states that the “prisons opened in recent years represent a new dimension of these attacks”. They denounce several repressive measures such as the isolation with the single cells, structures lacking ventilation, the right to go outside for only 1,5 hours a day, constant camera surveillance and isolated visits.

Speeches on behalf of Partizan and the TSP were held and revolutionary and solidarity slogans were chanted.
