Turkey: The Release of Imprisoned Partizan Taylan Turunç has been blocked for the 7th time

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a note published by Yeni Demokrasi.

The release of imprisoned partisan Taylan Turunç has been blocked for the seventh time by a decision of the Administrative and Monitoring Board.

Taylan Turunç, who has been held in Tekirdağ F-Type Prison No. 2 since March 2016, has had his release postponed seven times since December 2023. The reasons given for the postponement of Turunç’s release were his failure to appear before the board, the political content of his letters, and the need to “provide morale and motivation” to other prisoners.

Taylan Turunç, whose release was postponed for six months, will have his case re-evaluated by the Administrative and Supervisory Board at the end of May.
