Brazil – FRDDP: Yankees Out of Venezuela and Latin America
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement published by Revolutionary Front for the Defense of the Rights of the People [FRDDP] on the Yankee aggression on Venezuela.
Proletarians and oppressed peoples of the world, unite!
Death to imperialism!
Yankees out of Venezuela and Latin America!
Our war is not just any war, it is specifically a war between China and Japan fought in the Nineteen Thirties. Our enemy, Japan, is first of all a moribund imperialist power; she is already in her era of decline and is not only different from Britain at the time of the subjugation of India, when British capitalism was still in the era of its ascendancy, but also different from what she herself was at the time of World War I twenty years ago. The present war was launched on the eve of the general collapse of world imperialism and, above all, of the fascist countries; that is the very reason the enemy has launched this adventurist war, which is in the nature of a last desperate struggle. Therefore, it is an inescapable certainty that it will not be China but the ruling circles of Japanese imperialism which will be destroyed as a result of the war. Moreover, Japan has undertaken this war at a time when many countries have been or are about to be embroiled in war, when we are all fighting or preparing to fight against barbarous aggression, and China’s fortunes are linked with those of most of the countries and peoples of the world. (On Protracted War, Chairman Mao)
“Imperialism is a paper tiger!” (Chairman Mao)
On January 3, 2026, the cannibal Donald Trump, head of the imperialist superpower USA, or Great Satan, bombed and invaded Venezuelan territory and kidnapped Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cília Flores. Once again, Yankee imperialism resorted to blatant lies to justify its predatory rampage, accusing President Maduro of allegedly being the head of a drug cartel. Just as the flimsy excuses of fighting drugs were used to justify the arrest of Noriega in Panama in 1988; or for the implementation of “Plan Colombia” in the early 1990s; or the accusation of possession of “weapons of mass destruction” to attack and occupy Iraq in 2003. Yankee imperialism is a master at creating ruses to justify its actions of plundering and pillaging the wealth of the peoples and nations of the Third World under the “discourse of democracy” or “international legality.”
However, the current attack by the reckless Trump is not a mere repetition of previous imperialist wars. This is a war in the 21st century, in which the imperialist system as a whole has entered an unprecedented phase of its crisis of decomposition. Yankee imperialism, in particular, which in the last decade of the 20th century had become the sole hegemonic superpower, is now experiencing an accelerated process of decline in its hegemony. This war, therefore, is not just a war for oil; it is a war in which the Great Satan, Yankee imperialism, is desperately struggling to contain the decline of its hegemony. This desperation is also expressed in its justifications for the attack on the Venezuelan people and nation. The false accusation of “drug trafficking” was set aside by Trump, who shamelessly revealed the real objectives of the current war: “The Western Hemisphere is ours.”
The bombastic statement by the cannibal Trump barely conceals his desperation. At the end of the 20th century, with its anti-communist nonsense about the “end of history” and the definitive victory of capitalism, Yankee imperialism boasted that the whole world belonged to them. Now they falsely boast that they own half the world… To postpone its crisis of decomposition, Yankee imperialism needs to further increase the super-exploitation of the proletariat and the plundering of the wealth of the nations and peoples it oppresses; to do this, it needs to bring all the managers into line, committing them to these anti-people and treasonous crimes. Furthermore, it needs to prevent other imperialist powers from accessing these same riches, and therefore needs to control and prevent as much as possible the access of its contenders, Russian and Chinese imperialism, to the countries of Latin America. What Trump reveals with his arrogant brazenness is that Yankee imperialism needs total control of Latin America’s riches in order to confront its rivals.
On the one hand, with this unprecedented crisis of decomposition that the imperialist system is experiencing, Yankee imperialism is witnessing the accelerated decline of its hegemony; on the other hand, it has extensive experience in the aggression and subjugation of nations and in inter-imperialist disputes. And although it is in decline, it still remains the sole hegemonic superpower, with more than 700 military bases around the world. It is the only imperialist power willing to carry out military attacks such as the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro.
However, against imperialist war, the World Proletarian Revolution and its two currents are rising up around the world: the International Proletarian Movement, present in all countries, which is the leadership, and the National Liberation Movement of the oppressed peoples and nations of the Third World, which is the base. The National Liberation Movement has been advancing rapidly in recent years. The glorious Al-Aqsa Flood, an extraordinary counteroffensive by the Heroic Palestinian National Resistance, which began on October 7, 2023, is an indelible mark of this development. The International Proletarian Movement, its vanguard, the International Communist Movement, has advanced in leaps and bounds, managing to reverse the trend toward dispersion and unifying an important group of Maoist Communist Parties in the International Communist League.
Revisionism still wields significant influence in these two currents and is the main cause of the dispersion of communist and national resistance forces and the main danger to the proletarian revolution. However, the process of unifying the entire communist and anti-imperialist revolutionary camp has already begun. Every day, facts destroy revisionist lies and falsifications: how can pacifism be defended in the face of so many unbridled aggressions by the imperialists? How can the international proletariat and the peoples of the world continue to be deluded with promises of liberation outside the path of armed struggle and resistance, without People’s War? How can the extreme right and fascism be crushed except through revolutionary violence? The world is experiencing an unprecedented explosion of popular masses, and the Yankee invasion of Venezuela further fuels the revolutionary uprising of the oppressed nations and peoples of the world and of the workers of the imperialist countries themselves.
The unprecedented decomposition of imperialism and the explosive situation of the masses, in a revolutionary situation throughout the world, of uneven but constant development, enable and ensure that the International Proletarian Movement and the National Liberation Movement can grow through the revolutionary path and defeat imperialism throughout the Earth. The experience of imperialism in fighting revolution, the relatively scattered nature of revolutionary forces, and the still significant influence of revisionism among the people, in turn, mean that this victory cannot be quick: the World Proletarian Revolution will follow a long path until it achieves the complete sweep of imperialism and all reaction from the face of the Earth. This sweep will be inevitable and is already underway. The International Proletarian Movement and the National Liberation Movement will fulfill what Chairman Mao predicted in the 1960s: that in the next 50 to 100 years, imperialism will be swept from the face of the Earth.
A new great wave of world revolution has begun, and history has entered a new period of revolutions. Let all imperialists and reactionaries tremble before the new times that are coming!
This is the historical context in which the Yankee invasion of Venezuela is taking place. And it is precisely because of this situation that Trump’s spectacular actions reveal more desperation than strength on the part of the declining empire. Although Trump has boasted that Yankee special forces have “put boots on the ground in Venezuela,” they were unable to do so for more than 180 minutes. The kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro represents a blow to the Venezuelan nation, but it did not represent the end of the Bolivarian regime. Trump does not lack the military and economic means to occupy Caracas and impose a puppet regime, as he did in Afghanistan and Iraq at the beginning of this century. But why don’t they do it? Yankee imperialism knows that if it does, it will set all of Latin America on fire, and the result of this upheaval would be precisely the opposite of its objectives in this imperialist war, which is precisely to maintain and deepen Yankee domination over Latin America and hoard all its wealth exclusively for itself. The last thing Yankee imperialism needs right now is a conflagration in Latin American countries, which it considers its “backyard.”
The Al-Aqsa Flood of October 7, 2023, and the Yankee attack on Venezuela on January 3, 2026, are part of the same single process, which is the unprecedented aggravation of the main contradiction of the imperialist era between oppressed peoples/nations and imperialism. On October 7, it was the National Liberation Movement that took the initiative in the war of liberation and, in a prolonged process, managed to destroy the myth of the invincibility of the Zionist entity, in addition to imploding the Yankee imperialism plans for the region, with the so-called “Abraham protocols.” On January 3, it was Yankee imperialism that took the initiative, and it will be up to the Venezuelan people and nation to impose a National Resistance to defeat the colonialist plans of the USA. Only through prolonged national resistance will the Venezuelan nation and peoples be able to defeat the plans of Yankee imperialism.
President Nicolás Maduro’s position prior to the Yankee attack was mainly positive. He called on the Venezuelan masses to take up arms to resist a possible imperialist occupation. The Bolivarian government distributed weapons and trained popular militias. Maduro addressed the international proletariat in particular, calling for workers’ strikes around the world in opposition to imperialist greed for Venezuelan natural resources. After his kidnapping and illegal detention, President Maduro appeared proud and confident as he left the Yankee plane; according to reports from the media monopolies, he stated before the farcical court that he remained president of Venezuela and was a “prisoner of war” of Yankee imperialism.
Within Venezuela, after the initial impact of the Low Intensity Warfare operation, whose most important objective for the Yankees was precisely to shake the morale of the Bolivarian Armed Forces and the Venezuelan people and nations, the masses have taken to the streets waving anti-imperialist flags and demanding the immediate release of President Maduro and Cília Flores. The funerals of dozens of soldiers, militiamen, and civilians killed in combat or victims of the bombings were surrounded by masses of people and lofty speeches about national liberation. The 32 Cuban soldiers of the presidential guard who fell in the confrontation with the Yankee special forces are heroes of the anti-imperialist struggle who should be revered.
Chairman Mao Tsetung teaches us that in the national liberation struggle, the greatest ideological danger, particularly within the bourgeois forces, is the “theory of national subjugation.” This theory, spread by the vacillating sectors in all these struggles, argues that it is not possible to defeat imperialism because it is much stronger in economic and military terms. The supporters of this theory are defeatists who advocate “compromise” with the invading imperialist power, or the subjugation to another imperialist power in order to escape colonialist occupation. The position of “changing masters,” that is, replacing the domination of one imperialist power with another, is another variant of this nefarious theory of national subjugation.
The theory of national subjugation is the typical vacillating bourgeois position in national liberation wars and must be firmly opposed. This theory is based on the reactionary military conception that “arms decide everything.” Thus, Chairman Mao characterizes the military theoretical basis of national subjugation:
This is the so-called theory that “weapons decide everything,” a mechanistic theory and a subjective and one-sided view of the problem of war. Our view is opposed to this theory; we take into account not only weapons, but also men. Weapons are an important factor in war, but not the decisive one. The decisive factor is man, not things. The correlation of forces is determined not only by military and economic power, but also by human resources and popular support. (On Protracted War, Chairman Mao)
The Heroic Palestinian National Resistance (HRNP), its glorious Al-Aqsa Flood, was the most forceful refutation in recent times of the theory of national subjugation and that “weapons decide everything.” Supported by a population of 2 million inhabitants in a small territory of 50 km², the HRNP dealt the hardest blow to the Zionist entity and Yankee imperialism. Relying mainly on the decision of the masses, on their infinite creativity in combat, and counting on the popular support they would mobilize throughout the world, they gave the international proletariat and the peoples of the world a masterful example of audacity and spirit of sacrifice.
The Venezuelan people and nation must draw inspiration from this magnificent example to combat the theory of national subjugation with determination and wisdom. This is an indispensable condition for the advancement of Venezuelan national liberation. The more they advance in this direction, the more they become a Heroic National Resistance, the greater the commotion and support they will receive from the peoples of the world and, in particular, from the people within the imperialist beast, that is, the American people, who will play a decisive role in the struggle to undermine this evil empire from its foundations.
The struggle in support of the Venezuelan people and nation, Nicolás Maduro, and the Venezuelan government, insofar as it opposes the theory of national subjugation, must advance immediately in Brazil and throughout the world. Just as support for Palestine has advanced through combative and massive demonstrations against Israel, the same must occur in relation to Venezuela. The more massive, combative, and violent these demonstrations of support are, the stronger the truly patriotic and anti-imperialist currents within Venezuela and its government will be. It is our duty and obligation to move forward in this direction, for Venezuelan territory is our territory. The invasion of Venezuela is an invasion of all Latin America, which, together with the peoples of the world, must rise up in hatred against Yankee imperialism, its partners, and its lackeys.
The plans of Yankee imperialism, of the cannibal Trump, to take control of Venezuela’s wealth without permanently stationing troops on the ground, can only be realized if a fifth column triumphs within the Venezuelan State. Only under these conditions could Yankee imperialism appropriate the natural wealth of the Venezuelan people without the risk of a permanent occupation that would set all of Latin America ablaze. In this sense, the fight against the theory of national subjugation must be accompanied by the decision to crush the fifth column internally. This crushing is strategic, and without it, it is not possible for the legitimate government of Venezuela to mobilize the masses broadly against Yankee imperialism.
Just as in Palestine, where the struggle against Israeli occupation is seen as a national liberation revolution by the forces of its National Resistance, only through a revolutionary process will it be possible to defeat the attempt by Yankee imperialism to recolonize Venezuela. In this sense, as part of the national mobilization against the criminal blockade and blackmail of the cannibal Trump, it is essential to implement revolutionary measures that boost the national economy and, above all, mobilize the masses against imperialism. Thus, the advancement of an Agrarian Revolution in Venezuela, which destroys semi-feudal large estates and gives land to poor landless or land-poor peasants, will be a strategic measure of national mobilization. This meets the historical demands of the peasant masses and, at the same time, ensures the liberation of productive forces from the shackles of semi-feudalism, increasing the production of food and raw materials, which is a strategic necessity in a national liberation war that will inevitably be prolonged.
The most important challenge and task at this moment, more than ever, in order to develop a powerful Venezuelan national resistance, is to promote the Maoist proletarian vanguard in the country. Only in this way will the national resistance be endowed with direction and an iron backbone, unbreakable in undertaking the national anti-imperialist war and in warding off the attempts at capitulation by the vacillating sectors that tend toward conciliation, raising high the red banner of the New Democratic Revolution. This is the decisive task of Venezuelan revolutionaries, of the most advanced sections of the proletariat and of its people.
With the Yankee attack on Venezuela on January 3, the Latin American continent was thrust into the center of the storm of the World Proletarian Revolution. The heroic people of Latin America and the Caribbean, heirs to glorious anti-colonialist, anti-slavery, anti-feudal, and anti-imperialist traditions, must advance in their process of revolutionary unification. We have a common enemy: Yankee imperialism; we have a common past; and we also have a common destiny: the uninterrupted New Democratic Revolution to Socialism. Our countries will only be free if Yankee imperialism is destroyed; this liberation will only be possible through revolutionary wars, through the New Democratic Revolution. The struggle against the Yankees will not be easy or quick; they have gigantic means of warfare and great experience in combating revolution; they have ruling classes and lackey governments on the continent, they finance traitors with a lot of money and propagate defeatist, capitulationist, and liquidationist theories of their revisionist allies. But they are a superpower in decay and decline; the hatred of the broad masses of the whole world is turned against the Yankees, and only through the advance of revolutionary struggles, in processes ranging from small to large, amid leaps and bounds, can this hatred be converted into a conscious and organized material force capable of defeating an enemy that is militarily superior but doomed to the dustbin of history.
The cannibal Trump cannot curb his bloodthirsty and rapacious rage. He has unleashed a process in which he will seek to completely subjugate all the oppressed nations of the continent. He will seek to attack Cuba, divide Mexico, control Colombia; under the pretext of combating drug trafficking, he will increasingly interfere in Brazil, seeking to prevent the development of the revolutionary movement in the countryside; he will brand organizations such as the heroic League of Poor Peasants as “narco-terrorists”; he will interfere in elections and destabilize governments. In short, it will cause unrest but will inevitably fail.
Revolutionaries, democrats, and progressives must prepare themselves for this moment that is dawning. We must abandon our illusions, combat the theory of national subjugation and compromise with the imperialist power that oppresses and dominates us, and advance with determination and audacity in the revolutionary struggle. Yankee imperialism is desperate, and in the midst of this situation, it will increase its violence and plunder; the more it does so, and above all, the more it encounters the forceful response of the Latin American people, the faster its final downfall will be. The decisive battle against the Yankees will take place in South America between the Andes and the Amazon; the final battle will take place on their own territory, for it will be the North American proletariat, the poor masses of that vast country, who, honoring the revolutionary traditions of liberation from England (1776), the civil war against slavery (1865), and the struggle for civil rights and against the war in Vietnam, will definitively bury the Great Satan from within the imperialist beast. And this day will come sooner rather than later!
Long live the nation and people of Venezuela!
Down with imperialist war!
Long live the People’s War!
Long live the World Proletarian Revolution!
Long live the New Democratic Revolution throughout Latin America!
Immediate freedom for President Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores!
Yankees go home!
