Yeni Demokrasi reported yesterday that several arrests were carried out in Turkey. Two Partizan readers who were working on the “Close Well Types” initiative in Istanbul’s Sarıgazi neighborhood were arrested. The detention occurred while they put up stickers and hung up a banner.
Additionally in Samandağ, a reader of Yeni Demokrasi was taken into custody and the Yeni Demokrasi newspapers found on him were confiscated. The political branch of the police interrogated him about the contents of the newspaper and what he planned to use them for. Despite the fact that the reader was under 18 years old, he was brought to the police station and was held there for hours.
All of those arrested have been released.
