More Actions and Mobilizations on 8th of March

More actions were announced on the International Day of Women. In other articles, we have reported the actions carried out by activists and organizations, which highlighted the proletarian feminism and the necessity of the struggle against both imperialism and patriarchy. Now, we share some more reports that we found.

In Brasil, People’s Women’s Movement (MFP) carried out an event on March 7 under the slogan “Stop the violence against women! Awaken the women’s revolutionary fury!”. During the event the flag of the Anti-imperialist League could be seen and slogans such as “Yankees out of Latin America!” were heard.

During the event the revolutionary leader Sandra Lima, among others such us Helenira Resende or Ágatha Félix were remembered. A speech was made denouncing the situation of the working women and leaflets were handed out.

In Turkey, New Democratic Women announced a workshop on the upcoming March 29 entitled “Anti-imperialism and Women’s Liberation Struggle”.

Yeni Demokrasi reported on a teacher’s school strike that took place in Istanbul. Eight women teachers, who have being striking for 33 days in a row, carried out a rally demanding equal payment, secure employment, a life free from violence, and humane working conditions for women.

The women’s collective also saluted the women who bravely broke through police barricades and marched towards the US Embassy in Manila, the Philippines. Similarly, they shared a video of women in Mexico setting fire to police officers during the demonstration.

AGEB carried out an event in Innsbruck, Austria, on March 7 within the context of International Day of Women. This event takes place as part of the campaign for the 40th anniversary of struggle by ATİGF, and served as an important gathering for expanding the organized struggle for women and to strengthen solidarity. They write: The central event held in Innsbruck on the evening of March 7th was marked by speeches, shared experiences, and high participation, all celebrating the history of women’s resistance and struggle. The enthusiastic evening emphasized the need to expand the women’s liberation struggle and strengthen organized solidarity.”

Before the demonstration on 8th of March, they carried out an event where different speeches were made. Among them, Purple-Red collective read their statement on the significance of the day, followed by a choir performance and popular dances.

Purple-Red Collective were present in the demonstrations in London (UK), Liège (Belgium) and Reims (France). During the demonstrations, speeches were done, highlighting that “that the struggle for women’s liberation is not limited to demands for legal equality; it is also a shared struggle against capitalist exploitation, war policies, and oppressive regimes.”

In Freiburg, Germany, the Red League participated in the demonstration, where they handed out the Red Women’s Movement founding call. They report that it was a good action that spread the line of proletarian feminism and new contacts were made.

In Gävle, Sweden there was a rally where a speech, highlighting the necessity of women to join the revolutionary struggle, was made. Before this rally, Kommunisten reports on a political meeting to discuss women’s oppression today under the slogan “crushing the patriarchal and capitalist State”. They denounced the Welfare State and also its controlled lower wages for women and the control of motherhood. The write that the day was a victory for the red line in the women’s movement and that it served in mobilizing women under the banner of Maoism.

Kommunisten also shared an article on the State and the liberation of women, denouncing the bourgeois State as the backbone of patriarchy.
