Turkey: Partizan Reader Hacı Ahmet Kartal Has Been Released

Hacı Ahmet Kartal, who was detained during a house raid, was released last night.
Hacı Ahmet Kartal, a 73-year-old Partizan reader who was detained following a police raid on his home, had his statement taken yesterday at the Maslak Gendarmerie Command.
Following an application by his lawyers, the prosecutor in the case requested that Kartal, who suffers from several serious illnesses, be questioned and then released.
It has been learned that an investigation has been launched against those detained yesterday morning on the grounds that they are members of the TKP/ML and MKP organizations, and that the file includes statements from an informant.
The other individuals currently being held in custody at the Maslak Gendarmerie Command are expected to have their statements taken by the gendarmerie tomorrow and be referred to the prosecutor’s office on Monday.
