We hereby share an unofficial translation of the part on Mexico from the latest Weekly Newsletter published by Sol Rojo on the 20th of April.
In yet another episode of the war against the people and US interference in our country, two US agents died in a car accident alongside the Director of the Chihuahua State Investigation Agency (AEI) and another of its members. The incident occurred as they were returning from an operation in the Sierra Tarahumara, where they allegedly dismantled drug labs, when they crashed and lost their lives.
This has raised all sorts of questions, both regarding the PAN government of Maru Campos and the Morena government of Claudia Sheinbaum. What were two U.S. agents doing on an operation within Mexican national territory? Who authorized their entry? What was the extent of their responsibility and participation in said operation? How is it possible for this to happen without the Mexican government’s knowledge?
The woman who presides over the country has distanced herself from the events, stating that she will request clarifications from the US Embassy and the Chihuahua government, but this is not enough to answer any of these questions.
As we have mentioned before in this column, the agenda of US interventionism in our country has two aspects: a) open military intervention, or b) a silent military occupation tolerated by the Mexican government. The accident in which the two US agents lost their lives, viewed in conjunction with the entry of military troops, drone overflights, and the landing of US military aircraft, shows that “option b” is the one that continues to gain the most ground.
It comes as no surprise that the PAN and the PRI applaud the idea of a military intervention (or are working toward it), nor should anyone be surprised by the degree of subservience that Sheinbaum’s lackey government has reached in the face of orders from Trump and the Pentagon. The workers and peoples of Anáhuac must strive to build a solid movement of national unity, one that places the banners of anti-imperialism and the struggle for national liberation at its center.
Down with US interventionism!
