Finland – AIK: Theme Day in Solidarity with the Peoples of Latin America

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a report published by the Anti-imperialist Collective of Finland, on their Instagram account on the 29th of June.

On Saturday, June 27, we held a theme day in solidarity with the peoples of Latin America. The event began with a multimedia presentation on recent struggles in Latin America and the continent’s role as a center of the anti-imperialist movement, leading up to the founding of the international organization Anti-Imperialist League (AIL). This was followed by documentary films from Peru and Brazil that provided context for the current situation. Between each segment, there were open discussions and breaks with coffee and light refreshments. Finally, the broader significance of the examples discussed in the presentations and the documentary films was summarized, and it was emphasized that, thanks to the AIL, anti-imperialists around the world—including those in Finland—are no longer merely in solidarity with one another (for example, with Brazilian peasants), but are also united in an organizational alliance, which in turn lays the groundwork for the next steps in building an anti-imperialist front among the peoples of the world.
