Italy: Deniz Pektaş Has Been Released

Yeni Demokrasi has reported that Deniz Pektaş, who was detained in Ancona, Italy, on August 17 and taken to the prison, was released on August 20. Appearing in court on that day, Deniz Pektaş stated that he had been subjected to repression and investigations for many years due to his political activities.

Avrupa Haber shared a joint statement issued on August 19 in solidarity with Deniz Pektaş and condemning his unlawful detention.

Due to an internal communication problem, we were not able to report on this repressive case as we should have. Therefore we make self-criticism, and we also express our joy at the release of Deniz Pektaş.
