The Swiss Democratic Women’s Platform Has Been Established

ZURICH – The Democratic Women’s Platform, formed by women’s organizations in Switzerland, announced its establishment at a rally held in Zurich. The platform stated that it will wage a joint struggle against the problems faced by migrant women and deportation practices.

Formed by the European Democratic Women’s Movement (ADKH), the Socialist Women’s Union (SKB), the Purple Red Collective, and New Women, the platform was introduced to the public during the “Against Deportations” rally held in Zurich on September 18.

In the platform’s founding statement, it was argued that Switzerland’s immigration and asylum policies are becoming increasingly harsh. It was specifically noted that political refugees from Turkey and Kurdistan face the risk of deportation.

The statement called for the protection of the principle that individuals should not be returned to countries where they face the risk of persecution or serious human rights violations. It was emphasized that the special circumstances of women and children in asylum processes must be taken into account and that human rights must be upheld.

The platform announced that it aims to expand collective and organized resistance against the problems faced by women migrants, strengthen women’s solidarity, and carry out initiatives against deportation practices.
