France – Jeunesse Communiste: JOIN THE STRUGGLE! JOIN THE COMMUNIST YOUTH!
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement published by the Jeunesse Communiste on October 23.
For several weeks now, high school students – especially those in the suburbs – have revolted and are facing the State in violent, direct confrontation, denouncing their living conditions. This revolt began as soon as the school year started. This August in Mayotte, the Antilles, in French Guiana, and elsewhere, the youth rose up against inequality and colonial repression.
Our anger is justified. There aren’t protesters on one side and “rioters” on the other. From workers, farmers, and high school students to small business owners, we all have common interests to defend in this mobilization. Together, we’re shaking the State to its core.
SUPPORT FOR THE REBELLIOUS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS! IT’S RIGHT TO REBEL!
How can we accept a future of hardship, exploitation, and inequality? Why let a minority decide over our lives?
We want a socialist society free from capitalist exploitation, where the wealth produced by workers meets the needs of everyone, where everyone can study, have a place to live, eat, and live with dignity, where no one gets rich by stealing the labor of others.
Young people are not doomed to suffer. They can organize and transform society. This transformation will only come about through the Revolution! But to achieve this, we must unite and fight together!
We will not win in a single stroke, thanks to some great night when everyone will wake up, nor by endlessly multiplying acts of violence. Attacking the buildings where Power is located, moreover, is not the same as seizing Power itself. Nor is ousting a government the same as making a Revolution or changing the system.
For our class to win, it must organize on a large scale and have its own long-term strategy. We must rebuild revolutionary organizations in the service of the class and the Revolution, organizations capable of transforming our anger into the actual seizure of power, through the expropriation of the capitalists and without any concessions to the old bourgeois State that we want to overthrow!
