India – bsCEM: Rise in Rage Against the Brutal Repression on Jamia Millia Islamia!
We hereby share a statement published by Bhagat Singh Student Union Platform (bsCEM) on their Instagram on October 27.
On October 24th 2026, security personnels and security guards stormed the site of protests at Jamia Millia Islamia. The students there have been protesting and five of them have gone on a hunger strike for the demand of an independent body of elected students union that has been banned since the year 2006. The people from administration and staff came around the site of protest in the guise of negotiations and talks but then started brutally removing students and manhandling them.
Then on 26th, Monday, the Jamia Administration issued a notice ordering the election will be conducted within 15 days after the approval of the Union Constitution, but this notice does not give any assurance of the resignation of Vice-Chancellor and Chief proctor who are the boot licking slaves of the Brahmanical Hindutva Fascist State, and were the ones to brutally manhandle the students when they fiercely struggled for a democratic campus. Also the notice asking the protestors to publicly apologise in a press conference for the “defamatory” remarks made against the administration and all the statements, actions, and posts which are related to this should be taken down. But the protesting students rejected this notice, refused to bow down before the Sanghi
Administration who tried to stifle the protest by the notice. The students refused to apologise and demanded that the student election must be announced, and vowed to continue their hunger strike and fight until their demands met.
Followed by the bogus notice issued by the administration in the name of conciliation, on the fifteenth day of agitation, In the evening of 26th October itself, once again the students faced a fresh crackdown from the Brahmanical Hindutva Fascist State. The students were manhandled and detained by the Sanghi administration, the lapdog of the RSS-BJP fascist State. This exposes the falsity of the sham order and the subservient nature of administration to the very fascist system.
The students at Jamia Millia Islamia have resolutely stood against the bootlicking administration of the Brahmanical Hindutva Fascist state. They have refused to compromise with their democratic demands in the face of the fascist nexus between the university administration and the state forces which only work as anti-people forces to unleash violence and brutality on the common masses. The administration by offering the particular conditions has only shown that they want the students to end their protest and strike as soon as possible so that under the garb of restoration of normalcy they can again continue the saffronisation without any hurdles from the students.
An independent students union in a public university is a demand for facilitating campus democracy. However, the Brahmanical Hindutva Fascist state which tries to maintain a facade of democracy cannot give the right to a minority university for an independent students union. The saffronisation of public universities, from JNU, DU to JMI has been intensified in the past several years through the administration and institutional authorities. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Mazhar Asif has constantly facilitated events of the RSS like the Yuva Kumbh held in April this year.
This attack on this university therefore is not an isolated attack but a part of a well planned project of normalising the presence of uniformed goons of Delhi police and other state forces on our campuses, intimidating common students, crushing all forms of dissent and stopping any kind of mobilisation among students on their issues. To militantly resist the project of saffronisation therefore is not the job of one single university but all democratic minded and progressive
individuals and organisations to wage a united struggle against the Brahmanical Hindutva Fascist regime. We extend our solidarity with the students of Jamia Millia Islamia struggling for their democratic demand of a students union and demand for the fulfillment of all their demands by the administration immediately.
