Revolutionary Communist Party Seizes Land in Bardiya Illegally Snatched by Loansharks

The Bardiya District Committee of the Revolutionary Communist Party Nepal has taken possession of land illegally seized by loansharks. A statement issued by District Secretary ‘Prabhas’ informed that this step was taken to return the land to the victimized peasant in Bansgadi Municipality.

Kanhaiya Tharu and Hariram Tharu of Basgadi Municipality-7, Deuradhakala, had mortgaged their land as collateral when they took a loan from Rajendra Shrestha for business. Even after they paid off the debt and interest as per the agreement, the loanshark Shreestha did not return the land, but instead sold it to another person.

Despite a written agreement on February 12, 2026, in the presence of the ward office, to return the land within 15 days at the victim’s initiative, the loanshark refused and sold the land while the case was still pending in court.

The statement mentioned that the Party took possession of the land to deliver justice to the real victim after the process of evicting people continued, disregarding the court’s order and the ward’s agreement.

The Party has made it clear that it will always stand with the victims against the illegal activities of exploiters, land mafia, and loansharks, warning that it will take further strong action as needed.

This incident, in which a political party intervened against the exploitation by loansharks and land mafia and took control of the land on behalf of the victimized peasant, has become a topic of discussion at the local level.
