Brazil: Actions for Comrade Basavaraj and on occasion of the Day of Heroism
We share hereby some materials published by Servir ao Povo and an unofficial translation of the introduction published in the article.
As part of the internationalist campaign in tribute to Comrade Basavaraj and in support of the People’s War in India, widely followed by communists, revolutionaries, and anti-imperialists around the world, and in celebration of the 39th anniversary of the Day of Heroism (June 19, 1986), we, from Servir ao Povo, publish two important statements recently circulated in the International Communist Movement in the form of a booklet:
“Highest red salutes in honor and glory to the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) and to the Immortal Heroes!” from the International Communist League-ICL; and “Comrade Basavaraj is immortal: Let us follow his example, let us open the dawn of new times with fire!” from the Communist Party of Brazil-P.C.B.
June 19, 1986: Hundreds of prisoners of war from the Shinning Trenches of Combat impose fierce resistance against the darkest extermination operation by the genocidal armed and police forces of the bureaucratic-big landlord old Peruvian State. In the midst of the People’s War in Peru, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Peru-PCP and the Great Leadership of Chairman Gonzalo, they upheld the morale of the class and seal an indelible milestone of heroism, valor, and courage, celebrated by communists worldwide as the Day of Heroism.
May 21, 2025: Comrade Basavaraj and 27 other Maoist combatants fall in combat against “Operation Kagaar,” a campaign of encirclement and annihilation by the fascist military and paramilitary forces of the old Hindutva Brahmanical State in India. In the midst of the People’s War in India, led by the Communist Party of India (Maoist), they etch their names into the pantheon of the immortal heroes and heroines of the international proletariat, leaving a glorious example for new generations of communists and revolutionary combatants in India and around the world.
The Day of Heroism is a date to celebrate, in addition to the glorious feats of the militants, combatants, and masses of the Shining Trenches of Combat in Peru, the memory of all the heroes and heroines of the international proletariat who shed their generous blood for the cause of the bright and eternally golden Communism and gave their lives to the Party and the Revolution, just as Comrade Basavaraj and the 27 Maoist combatants immortalized on May 21 did, along with all the martyrs of the Indian Revolution.
Therefore, we call upon the readers of this platform, revolutionary activists, and fighters of the people to download the pamphlet we have made available, “In Memory of Comrade Basavaraj and on the Occasion of the Day of Heroism,” to reproduce it clandestinely and secretly, to place the booklets in piles or hooks in high-traffic areas of the working and student masses, and to disseminate it as widely as possible throughout Brazil.
