Mexico: Meeting of Authorities and Topiles

Sol Rojo Mexico reported on the resolutions after the Meeting of Authorities and Topiles (EAT) that took place on August 8^th and 9^th in the Eteco Valley of Oaxaca. We already published an unofficial translation of the call for that meeting:

MEXICO: Call towards the Meeting of Authorities and Topiles

This meeting began by discussing “the three fundamental criteria for the liberation of territories and the exercise of embryos of New Power, which are: Self-determination, Self-governance, and Self-defense.” Afterwards, the conversation dealt with the following topics: “1) Community development, 2) Land tenure, and 3) Community security.” More than 133 attendees from 13 agrarian and indigenous communities from at least 8 municipalities in the State of Oaxaca participated in the meeting.

Sol Rojo mentions that a joint analysis was made, regarding the current situation and the challenges they face in defending their autonomy, which are important points of this meeting.

Concrete issues were analyzed, such as “the discrimination of structural racism, the oppression and servitude of latifundium, the violence of both legal and illegal State apparatuses, and now also the new dispossession of our lands, territories, and natural resources by imperialist mega-projects that seek to subjugate us once again.” The war against the people was also discussed, a fact that Sol Rojo Mexico has widely denounced in numerous statements, analyses, and issues of the Weekly Newsletter, as can be seen in the articles that we have regularly translated and invite you to read:

The meeting adopted as rights in its resolutions the “undeniable rights of Self-determination, Self-governance, and Self-defense as three fundamental criteria for the liberation of territories and the exercise of embryos of New Power in the struggle for land and national liberation.” Additionally, as an agreement from the meeting, they recognized themselves as “part of the construction of the League of Communities for Agrarian Revolution (LCRA) and committed to the path towards the II SolRojista Political Congress.”

Various work points have been agreed upon following the meeting, including the call for a 2^nd Meeting in the near future to continue deciding the work path. Furthermore, the meeting firmly declares that it is necessary to organize and “expel the electoral Parties, transnational companies, and other enemies of the people.”
