Ecuador: NEW UNION LEADERSHIP AT EMAPA-I

This is an unofficial translation of a note published by the Defense Front of the Workers’ Rights in Imbabura.

“The worker needs respect more than bread”

The EMAPA-I company union held elections to appoint its new leadership, with the majority of the assembly voting for Leonardo Justicia, who won this democratic union process. The Defense Front of the Workers’ Rights in Imbabura (FDDT-I) would like to congratulate the new union leaders, who will focus on the struggle to defend the rights of workers and the people.

We emphasize that glory is achieved through struggle and the conquest of rights. We are confident that their leadership will be a constant struggle for the rights and dignity of workers, which will yield great results.

Congratulations on this victory, which is the result of the union’s unity and perseverance in the face of labor challenges.

This election is a recognition of class and revolutionary commitment, a recognition of commitment to their struggle and their inspiration to build a new type of unionism. Congratulations on the valuable work you will undertake at the head of the union, strengthening class consciousness and organization.

We call for unity among workers, with the right guidance in defense of workers’ rights and the just struggles of our people. May this be a new impulse to continue advancing in the construction of a class-conscious and revolutionary line.
