Porto, Portugal: Anti-Imperialist Action Takes Part in the May 1st

We hereby share an unofficial translation of an article by Nueva Aurora from Portugal.

Activists from the democratic-revolutionary organization Anti-Imperialist Action — Portugal (AAI) participated in the demonstration organized by Housing Today (HH) for International Workers’ Day, which marched from Trinidad to the Temporary Integration Center—a detention facility for undocumented immigrants—in the city of Porto.

Upon reaching the final destination, the activists gave a political speech in which they denounced the attacks by the old reactionary Portuguese State against the oppressed and exploited masses. They also denounced the so-called housing crisis, pointing out its role in the exponential increase in the profits of the big bourgeoisie and big landlords at the expense of the exploitation of oppressed peoples, as well as denouncing the enslavement of migrants in Portugal’s fields.

At the conclusion of the speech, they saluted the peoples in struggle throughout the world, with special emphasis on Brazil, noting that the Agrarian Revolution—characterized by the annihilation of latifundium and the conquest of land by the poor peasantry—is an integral part of the construction of New Democracy in the country and of the World Proletarian Revolution.
