Day of the Detained-Disappeared in Mexico
We hereby share an unofficial translation of the report on the actions carried out in Mexico on the Day of the Detained-Disappeared, published by Sol Rojo on September 11.
On August 30, marking the International Day of the Detained-Disappeared, following the call by our democratic organization to carry out actions as part of the national and international campaign #DrSernasPresentaciónConVida, several organizations joined the actions.

In Mexico, several organizations have carried out many actions since weeks prior, in different parts of the country as part of this campaign – as we have reported in previous notes.

The day of struggle on August 30 was marked by more actions. We share here the report of the main actions carried out.

Querétaro

Comrades of the Liga de Acción Comunista (LAC) [translators note: League of Communist Action] hung up posters demanding the presentation alive of comrade Dr. Ernesto Sernas García in the schools and streets of the city. They also joined the rally organized in the Plaza de Armas together with other democratic organizations such as Comité Cerezo [translators note: Cherry Tree Committee].

Tamaulipas

Comrades of the Liga de Acción Comunista (LAC) hung up posters demanding the presentation alive of comrade Dr. Ernesto Sernas García in various parts of Tampico and partook in a meeting in front of the municipality together with Collectives of Searching Mothers and Families.

Oaxaca

The Front of the People – Red Sun organized a big, combative mobilization, in which dozens of collectives, democratic organizations and class-conscious unions joined in.

The demonstration of more than 500 people started from the Fuente de las 8 Regiones towards the town square.

During the march posters and dazibaos with the face of Dr. Sernas García were put up, and a lot of graffiti was made, especially on the establishments of monopolies.

Arriving to the town square, a powerful rally was held in front of the Palacio de la Ignominia (Palace of the Government), whose walls were covered with posters with the face of Dr. Sernas García.

Mexico City

The Front of the People – Red Sun participated for the second consecutive year in the March for Truth, Justice and Remembrance called for by Comité Cerezo, Comité de Familiares de Detenidos Desaparecidos “Hasta Encontrarlos” [translators note: Committee of the Detained Disappeared “Until We Find Them”] and other democratic organizations. In this activity we were also joined by the comrades of the LAC.

The demonstration left from the Ángel de la Independencia towards the town square, also with the participation of around 500 people.

During the march, posters and dazibaos with the face of Dr. Sernas García were put up and a lot of graffiti was made.

Upon arriving at the town square a powerful rally was held in front of the National Palace, which was boarded up with metal barriers of the riot police. These were used to hang up banners with the faces of the disappeared, some of them also with the face of Dr. Sernas García.

Conclusion
In Mexico the phenomenon of disappearances has escalated to a real humanitarian crisis in the middle of the war against the people gripping the country. Currently there are more than 135,000 disappeared, among them comrades of the democratic-revolutionary movement that were disappeared by the State.
It is important that the popular movements firmly take up the demand for the presentation alive of the comrades that have been detained-disappeared by the regime, constructing a base of unity to develop this struggle for the demand of the presentation alive of the thousands of victims of disappearance in our country. This unites the struggle of the popular movements with the struggle of the Searching Mothers and Families in all of Mexico.
Because they took them alive, we want them back alive!
