Austria – ADRV: Against the Data Center in Kronstorf

Die Rote Fahne Austria has reported on ongoing protests against the construction of a data center in the city of Kronstorf by Yankee monopoly Google. The protests have been going on for at least two months.

According to some estimations, which have now been rejected and revised upward, the data center would still consume energy equivalent to 375,000 households and use 200 liters of cooling water every second, only half of which would be returned to the river.

Google Go Home!

The Google data center in Kronstorf is a US-imperialist mega-project that will not only destroy our environment, but also endangers our essential supplies. There are many reasons to reject such a data center. They serve to increase surveillance, to store our data and sell it. Our country must not be sold to US companies. Especially to those who maintain contracts with Pentagon and with Israel, who use their technology and infrastructure for genocide and war. This is done for instance in Gaza or Lebanon under the project “Nimbus”. It is an expression of the cooperation between Austria and US-imperialism.

Especially the FPÖ, who present themselves as a party for the homeland, or the Greens who present themselves as a pro-environment Party take part in selling out our country and environment and destroying it. It is them, together with ÖVP and SPÖ who make up the government. In the USA there are several protests against data centers as they make entire regions de facto unlivable. There is a lack of energy and water. People are moving away from those areas in droves! The protest against the Google data center has to be led in the direction that prevents the construction of the data center. Everything else is a part of their calculations, and in the end would lead to making it operational – that has to be clear! Remember the atomic reactor in Zwentendorf: it was prevented by massive resistance and struggle. There cannot be another way in this case, because now, as it was then, the government is committed to realizing this project. We are not in the same boat: while making the data center operational is very profitable for some, for us it only makes things worse! Get in touch – Let’s organize!

Immediate end to the construction of the data center!

No selling-out of the homeland to corporations!

No military deals with the USA and Israel!
