The Paz Occupation in Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro, has been facing threats of evictions from the State, which courts have given the occupation 10 days to vacate, A Nova Democracia (AND) reports. The residents are demanding that Mayor Antônio Francisco Neto issue a decree guaranteeing their continued stay on the site and state that the promise to relocate them under the My House, My Life program has not been fulfilled.

AND writes that the Support Committee of the AND visited the Paz Occupation, in which they talked to several residents. One resident said that “People are already building their lives here, they are already using the land,” and another, that “We are the social function of the land. We live here, we plant our gardens so we can get the minimum from the land to eat, so we don’t have to buy food.”

In Rio de Janeiro, five demonstrations brought together hundreds of protesters against the policies of Bolosonaro and in defense of the Agrarian Revolution on October 7, 9, 11, 18, and 23, A Nova Democracia (AND) reports.

In the various mobilizations, banners reading “Long live the Agrarian Revolution!” were carried and Yankee imperialist flags were burned.
