Gujarat, India: Police mishandles Youth

In the city of Surat, Gujarat, a brutal assault on individuals by police officers has been reported. Police reported that they detained those who allegedly disrupted order by throwing stones at an idol in the Variavi Bazar area.

After the stone-throwing incident, the police swiftly detained the minors, what lead to a gathering of a large mob demanding severe punishment for the accused. This response escalated communal tensions, with the mob reportedly launching stones at police, causing widespread outrage and damage to multiple vehicles.

Footage reveal the minors struggling to walk after their time in police custody, strongly suggesting they suffered severe physical abuse and the officers having been acting with impunity. These actions constitute one more crime against the people aiming again at the muslim community.
