India: big massacre by the old State

The old Indian State has deployed a huge repressive operation in Chhattisgarh since October 3. More than 1,500 soldiers and paramilitaries have been deployed in the forests between the districts of Narayanpur and Dantewada, searching to massacre those who resist.

Shortly after there were reports on a big massacre committed by the old Indian State in the area. In this occasion, on Friday were murdered 28 alleged Maoists in the district of Narayanpur. When this information was published by Indian media on October 5, the supposed encounter was still going on. Shortly after it was reported that other three bodies were found, what brought the death-toll until 31 people murdered. This would be the biggest massacre by the old Indian State since the year 2000.

On October 6, the General Inspector of Police stated that 22 of the alleged Maoists were identified. From the 31 bodies, 18 were men and 13 were women. On the other hand also Indian media reported that in many occasions, when the old State reported about alleged Maoists killed in Bastar and that there were economical rewards on them, the families denied such accusations and stated that they were civilians. The Indian troops stated that they have recovered weapons after the combat but there are no proves about that. There is no official confirmation by the Maoists about this encounter.

At the same time, experts from the judiciary Indian sector, focused on the numerous incidents of extra-judicial killings by the old Indian State. Manipur, Nagaland, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are the most affected states. Chhattisgarh has faced (so far) at least 150 indigenous murdered by the old State, some of them children. Moreover the experts also mention that “It was clear that they were innocent and not Naxalites.”
