War on Lebanon: Reinforcements, Resistance and Retaliation

The IDF deployed a third division, the 91st Division, to southern Lebanon on Monday, October 7, for what they call “focused and delimited” ground operations, i.e. more invasion forces against Lebanon. Hence, the 91st Division joins the 36th and 98th divisions in southern Lebanon. The IDF 3rd, 8th, and 288th reserve brigades are operating under that 91st Division. The division is ordinarily responsible for the entire Israel-Lebanon border and has conducted hundreds of attacks from Israel targeting Lebanon. Hezbollah reported that it confronted Israeli invasion at the border near Yiftah.

Meanwhile, the IDF created a fourth closed military zone in Western Galilee on October 7. The new zone encompasses Rosh Hanikra, Hanita, Admit, Arab al Aramshe, and Shlomi, which is the western-most section of the Israel-Lebanon border. Most of the border is now a closed military zone. The IDF created closed military zones to the east over the Metula area on September 30, over the Dovev, Tzvion, and Malkia areas on October 1, and over Manara and Yiftah on October 6.

The IDF ordered civilians to evacuate – which means they displaced them forcefully – immediately from 25 towns and villages in southern Lebanon, and to head north of the Awali River. It has been reported that Israeli Navy fired artillery targeting Ras Naqoura in southwest Lebanon.

The IDF’s 36th Division reportedly have been attacked in Maroun al Ras with rocket fire. Hezbollah launched several medium-range rockets at Haifa and also fired about 20 rockets at Kfar Vradim.

Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, Hezbollah’s Military Media announced a missile strike on Tel Aviv, the third one to hit the city since September 23. They launched a salvo of missiles targeting the Gililot base of Israeli military intelligence Unit 8200 located in the suburbs of Tel Aviv.

On October 8, Hezbollah reported it had attacked Israeli positions in Dishon, Al-Baghdadi, the settlement of Yaron, Haifa Bay (130 rockets total so far, in two waves, the largest bombardment the city had ever been exposed to) and Dalton.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq targeted 5 sites in central and northern Israel with cruise missiles and drones.

Israel in today’s morning hours has again bombed the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, and launched a raid on the town of Kfar Shuba in southern Lebanon. New Israeli raids on the towns of Selaa and Arzoun in southern Lebanon were reported during the noon, as well as strikes on the capital Beirut as revenge for the large scale attack on Haifa.

Reports imply that Israel is trying to use the international UNIFIL forces as human shields to cover up its failure to advance towards Maroun Al-Ras. On Sunday unusual movement of the Israeli forces behind a UNIFIL military site in the outskirts of the border town have been monitored according to Al-Mayadeen TV.

More than one week of invading another sovereign state by Israeli has brought little to null results regarding their proclaimed targets, a similarity to the development in their genocidal war against Gaza.
