France: success of the rallies for Georges Abdallah on October 24

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a report published by La Cause du Peuple.

Nearly a thousand people responded in more than ten cities to the call from the Unity Campaign (CUpLGIA) to gather in front of State buildings to demand the release of Georges Abdallah on October 24, the 40th anniversary of his detention.

In Lille, 150 people; in Montpellier 50 people, in Nantes 70 people… There are generally at least fifty people and up to several hundred who chanted slogans and raised the Palestinian flag a few days before the national demonstration in front of the Lannemezan prison which takes place today.

Everywhere, supporters of Palestine received support from passers-by, such as in Strasbourg where a student from Gaza cried with joy when the local gathering affirmed its support for the resistance of the Palestinian people. In many cities, the event received support from local Palestine Committees, but also from revolutionary youth organizations, the Fédération Syndicale Etudiante(FSE) as well as other left-wing organizations generally supporting Palestine.

Support for Palestine but also for Lebanon was affirmed in combative words which were widely raised up by chanting slogans and songs!
