LCP Victory in Pista Velha

During this month we have reported on actions against the evictions that are carried out in Messias. The settlements of Lajeiro, Esperança, Baixa Funda and Pista Velha were affected by an eviction court order at the service of latifundium, concretely the Usina Utinga Leão. Now, the LCP has achieved to stop the eviction of Pista Velha

Neighbors of the Pista Velha settlement achieved through organized struggle a stop of the evictions which were going to take place this week. Neighbors stated towards A Nova Demcocracia “Now they say it was the town hall, but this is a lie. In fact, it was the struggle, because they knew the people was mobilizing to give an answer. Things were already bad, on the 20th there was a demonstration and people were determined to resist.”

In addition to previous actions, marches were carried out, as the one on November 20th that showed the strength of neighbors.

Invasão Zero’ organizes itself against the Barro Branco camp

Through its government arm the ‘ruralist’ – big landlord – bench, a law to allow representatives of ‘Invasão Zero’ to make a “technical inspection” in the Barro Branco lands was approved.

This requirement was approved nearly unanimously after the creation of a special sub-commission for the “security in the countryside and mediation of agrarian conflicts” on November 12th, according to AND, what they want to say is “extermination of the peasants in struggle.

The national articulation of the latifundium, “Invasão Zero” and the Ruralist Bench, show the true importance of the peasants struggle in Jaqueira, especially after the peasants’ victory on September 28th, recognizing the League of the Poor Peasants as the main enemy of the latifundium in Brazil. Meanwhile, solidarity actions with the peasants take place nationally and internationally.

Solidarity actions in Barro Branco

Students of Pedagogy, organized by ExMEPE, made solidarity actions with Barro Branco. Additionally, formative sessions on the agrarian question were held together with the Support Committee of the Newspaper A Nova Democracia in Belo Horizonte.

Leaflets were spreed and there the event on November 21st on the peasants resistance was promoted.
