France – Fall of Barnier and appointment of Bayrou: the Republic of the usual criminals
We hereby share an unofficial translation of an article published by La Cause du Peuple:
You would have to be blind to do not see that: the Barnier government was a fuse for Macron, his fall in the question of budget was not only expected, but also the consequence of its role: an austerity government, which makes the proletarians pay the debt. Put the budget back into green without being censored? It was an impossible goal since the opportunity was excellent for the RN and the NFP to be proud of this failure.
After a week of hesitations, in which all the usual suspects, since from the LFI to RN, including PS and PCF agitated themselves as beheaded chicken with the most absurd hypothesis such as “resignation” and “left Prime Minister”, Macron appointed its former “planning commissioner”, François Bayrou as Prime Minister.
The role of the government doesn’t change anything regarding Barnier: its room for maneuver is therefore, the same. When a political crisis becomes a regime crisis, it is not enough with changing the heads to make the problems disappear. On the contrary, these problems take new forms and become more caricatured than they were.
This is what Bayrou is: the eternal loser in the presidential elections; the slapper of children in Strasbourg [Translator’s note: a reference to when Bayrou slapped a 11-year-old child in the electoral campaign of 2002]; the first who forbade the veil at school and supported reactionary madness 30 years ago, when he was minister. We had Barnier, the superb reactionary technocrat; we will have Bayrou, the stupid and brutal reactionary, THE politician among the politicians.
Macron amuses us: appoints the one he overthrew some years ago. He places there a henchman who spat on him, and afterwards Macron stomped him on return. Now Marine Le Pen is pending to be judged for taking advantage of public funds for her party. The new prime minister waits for an appeal trial for exactly the same reason.
This is a specific development of the reactionarization process: as Olaf Scholz in Germany in 2021, the boss of the French government is also schemer, a thug, and those who attack him, from the left or far right, are not different. Was not Mélenchon who spoke out against Le Pen’s ineligibility because this could affect people of his own Party, for example Chikirou, accused of a campaign faking accounts affair?
The “moralization of political life” of the first term of Macron is very far away. While the presidential monarch watches happy the basket of crabs [Translator’s note: French saying which means a group of people or place where there is only fight and loud noise] of the National Assembly, between two trips as representative of the French bourgeoisie, the popular masses of France pay the bill every day. But Macron has no base anymore: he is hated, he incarnates a regime in agony, a Fifth Republic created by the crisis which now is unable to control. There is no “democratic fatigue” in France: there is only the reality that the masses cannot be ruled as before, and the continuation of this crisis confirms that. This is just the beginning!
