Georges Abdallah: Court’s Ruling delayed until June 19
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a report published by La Cause du Peuple on the case of Georges Abdallah.
The political and judicial harassment continues: on 20 February, when the release of Georges Abdallah should be issued, the Court of Appeal of Paris announced that it was postponing its decision until at least June 19. This means that Georges Abdallah remains behind bars at least until that date.
The reason? According to lawyer Me Chalanset, the court wants to give Georges Abdallah time to “justify the compensation of the civil parties”. However, Georges Abdallah has always denied being responsible for the assassination of the US military attaché and a Mossad agent. He had declared at his trial: “If the people have not given me the honor of participating in these anti-imperialist actions that you attribute to me, at least I have the honor of being accused of them by your court and of defending their legitimacy in the face of the criminal legitimacy of the executioners.” So who is there to compensate? The CIA and the Mossad?
In short, the Court of Appeal’s choice to delay, to “do not rule” is indeed a decision itself. It is the choice of harassment, the attempt at humiliation to those who want Georges, a combatant until the end, to make him regret and abandon his ideals in the name of the hope of being freed.
But liberation cannot be bargained! Postponing the decision to June 19, a date that is so emblematic because it represents the Day of Heroism, the International Day of Revolutionary Prisoners and Prisoners of People’s War, is to stir up the development of people’s mobilization on a national and international scale guided by the Unitary Campaign for the Liberation of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah. Let’s bet that the next battle plan of the Campaign will be that of final victory!
