France: Success of rallies for Georges Abdallah despite bans
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a report published by La Cause du Peuple.
The police chief of Paris, Laurent Nuñez, had decided to ban all gatherings planned for Georges Abdallah in the Paris region, starting with the city of Paris before extending it to the suburban cities of Aubervilliers and Saint-Denis in which actions were called. This repression obviously follows the resounding success of the demonstration in Paris on February 8, where nearly 5,000 people marched to demand the release of Georges Abdallah.
Despite these attempts by the bourgeois State to dissolve the movement, the Unitary Campaign for the Liberation of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah announced the success of more than 35 rallies on February 19, the day before the decision to be made for his release! The importance of this mobilization can be seen, among other things, in the fact that all the major bourgeois media have been forced to talk about it, either about the bans on gatherings or about the rallies themselves.
From Toulouse to Montpellier via Lille, Bordeaux, Rennes or Lyon, in France and internationally, initiatives have multiplied, with combative speeches led by the components of the Unitary Campaign and in some cases demonstrations led by the flags of Palestine and the collectives present.
From now on, Georges Abdallah’s supporters are awaiting the ruling, keeping in mind the promise they made to themselves: that of being there whatever is the ruling, to intensify the mobilization not only for Georges Abdallah, but for all revolutionary political prisoners and in defense of Palestine.
