Mexico – Press Release: Red Sun will begin a Day of Struggle!
We hereby publish an unofficial translation of an announcement of Sol Rojo:
– The State Search Commission is engaging in a sham in the case of Dr. Ernesto Sernas García.
– The investigations into the murders of members of Sol Rojo are being forgotten.
– Political prisoner Arnulfo García Santos is not allowed to have adequate defense.
– Other cases of human rights violations remain unaddressed.
To the working class and workers,
To the poor peasantry and oppressed indigenous peoples,
To the women and youth of the people,
To the brother unions and organizations,
To the media and independent press,
Starting on March 3rd, the Current of the People – Red Sun will launch the Day of Struggle in Defense of the Rights of the People, Justice, and Freedom, which, among its central axes, demands that the state government and the Oaxaca prosecutor’s office address, at the highest level, the justice cases that have impacted our organization. These include: the forced disappearance of Dr. Ernesto Sernas García (05/10/2018), the murders of our comrades Luis Armando Fuentes Aquino (04/11/2019), Jesús Manuel García Martínez (10/27/2022), and Félix Vicente Cruz (04/13/2023), as well as the unjust imprisonment of political prisoner Arnulfo García Santos, who is accused of a crime he did not commit.
In addition to these, our democratic organization continues to denounce the absolute neglect of cases such as:
- The forced displacement of 78 Triqui families from San Miguel Copala (since February 2010).
- The agrarian conflict in Santa Cruz Tagolaba, which has resulted in the dispossession of plots and common-use land by the mercenary “Tacho Canasta” and his brother Sergio “Canalla,” who are part of the “dispossession cartel” in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.
- The enforcement of the nullification ruling of Agrarian Trial Exp. 453/2022, which invalidates the imposition of the mercenary Sergio “Canalla” in the agrarian community of Santa Cruz Tagolaba.
- The omissions and violations against the self-determination of the indigenous community of Rincón Tagolaba by the City Council of Santo Domingo Tehuantepec.
- The failure to comply with Recommendations 05/2018 (arbitrary detention and torture) and 01/2023 (forced disappearance) issued by the Human Rights Defender of the People of Oaxaca (DDHPO), which are also managed with acts of simulation that prevent comprehensive reparation for the damage and access to truth and justice by organizations such as the State Commission for Victim Assistance and the State Search Commission, which, due to their acts of omission and bureaucracy, had to suspend the search for our comrade Ernesto Sernas García on February 19, 20, and 21.
In this sense, it is essential for popular sectors to understand the reasons for our Day of Struggle in Defense of the Rights of the People, Justice, and Freedom, which will begin on March 3rd, and not just the disinformation campaigns that seek to discredit the just struggles of the people.
In this regard, we want to emphasize something that the Government of the State of Oaxaca has recently said in an attempt to demonize us: “Sol Rojo seeks to impose the dictatorship of the proletariat.”
Indeed, our struggle is based on a revolutionary program that we call the program of the New Democratic Revolution, agrarian and anti-imperialist, which will advance uninterruptedly until the seizure of power and the establishment of Socialism, building a new mode of production and a new society. Our political program is the program of the working class, the poor peasantry, the oppressed indigenous peoples, the women and youth of the people, and the progressive, patriotic, democratic, anti-fascist, anti-imperialist, and revolutionary sectors that aspire to a New Democracy, a New Homeland, and Socialism.
We have never hidden our objectives and our historical program. We have never lowered our flags, which are the red flags of the revolution that Mexico demands. We continue to fight for the defense of the land and national liberation as the first stage of the proletarian revolution in our country!
Our revolutionary program calls us to defend the rights of the people, and the foremost of these is the right to exercise Power. We pay attention to the needs of the people in the heat of class struggle; in this sense, we defend the right of agrarian communities, indigenous peoples, popular neighborhoods and colonies, youth and students, women, and workers in general to ORGANIZE AND MOBILIZE to defend the right to land, territory, housing, public services, culture, sports, education, health, work, wages, strikes, etc. No Government, no electoral party, no political figure, nor any economic or other actor can pretend to cancel, conceal, seize, or condition these fundamental rights.
Finally, in the current context in which the class struggle is marked by the threats of military intervention from Yankee imperialism and the war against the people (aggravated since the militarization initiated by Felipe Calderón and continued by Peña Nieto, López Obrador, and currently by Claudia Sheinbaum, resulting in 483,931 homicides and 108,524 disappearancesi), we consider it essential for the organized expressions of the people to work towards the construction of the UNITED FRONT, placing as central axes UNITY ON PRINCIPLES and UNITY IN ACTION.
In light of all of the above, our Day of Struggle in Defense of the Rights of the People, Justice, and Freedom will begin next Monday, March 3rd, in the capital of Oaxaca, reiterating once again: Regardless of who governs, the rights of the people are defended!
