Communist Committee of the Netherlands – STOP ATTACKS ON PRO-PALESTINIAN ACTIVISTS IN FRANCE!

We hereby share an open letter published in solidarity with the French pro-Palestinian activist recently detained.

We are sending this open letter of solidarity to our comrades from Ligue de la Jeunesse Révolutionnaire (LJR) and Jeunes Révolutionnaires (JR), who for years in France have been waging a brave and unyielding struggle for the release of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah and for the freedom of Palestine. This struggle is not without risks and is constantly met with harsh repression and political persecution by the French state, which clearly fears the growing strength of the pro-Palestinian movement and the broader movements opposing oppression and injustice.

Recently, a pro-Palestinian activist was brutally arrested on his way back to France and detained for 48 hours without any lawful reason or justification. This arbitrary arrest is not just a mistake or an incident, but a deliberate attempt to intimidate and silence those who express solidarity with the Palestinian people. As if this was not enough, another activist has now been suspended from his work simply because of his commitment to justice and his steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

This kind of repression is nothing less than an outrageous attempt to silence activists and stifle calls for justice. It is an expression of the fear felt by the ruling class of the growing movements that are rising up against injustice, oppression and imperialism.

But these attacks are far from isolated incidents. What is happening in France also affects us here in the Netherlands. The recent arrests and house raids in Amsterdam following Amsterdam’s defense against Maccabi Tel Aviv hooligans, the violent repression of protesters, the imminent threat of a ban on Samidoun, and the prosecutions that followed last year’s student occupations, and we could go on for centuries, are all clear examples of a pattern of repression that is taking place all over Europe. They are different chapters in the same story: a ruling class desperately trying to quell any resistance, to suppress any voice that opposes injustice.

However, these attempts to intimidate us only show that our actions are having an effect. The violence, the arrests, the repression – they are all signs of fear. Fear of the power of our solidarity. Fear of the growing movements rising up against imperialism and colonialism. Fear of a world in which the oppressed unite, raise their voices and fight back.

Let there be no mistake: we will not be intimidated. The solidarity we feel with the comrades of LJR & JR, with the Palestinian people and with all those who fight against injustice, is stronger than ever. Repression will not stop us, but rather motivate us to intensify our struggle and strengthen our connections, like the comrade who came out of remand after four months in prison with joy, pride and determination in Leeuwarden.

We call on everyone to make their voices heard against this repression. To stand together against the forces that seek to break our movements. To stand in solidarity with those who fight for justice, freedom and dignity, wherever they are. The struggle for justice does not stop at national borders; it is a universal struggle that affects us all.

We stand shoulder to shoulder with LJR & JR. Your struggle is our struggle. Your determination strengthens our determination. Together we will fight injustice wherever it manifests itself.

OUR STRUGGLE IS INTERNATIONAL, OUR SOLIDARITY KNOWS NO BORDERS!
FROM AMSTERDAM TO PARIS, REVOLT IS JUSTIFIED!
