AGEB – Symbol of Rebellion and Resistance: Newroz Pîroz Be!

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement by the Union of Migrant Workers in Europe (AGEB) published by Avrupa Haber.

Against fascism, reactionism, barbarism, and all forms of oppression; we enter the historical day of resistance and rebellion of the oppressed peoples, Newroz, amidst fascist State repression and arrests against our people of all nationalities.

Imperialist powers and their lackeys are making life difficult for people of all nationalities around the world and in the Middle East. While the Zionist Israel continues its attacks in Palestine and the Turkish State persists in its assaults in Rojava, jihadist HTS gangs, in collaboration with the fascist Turkish Republic, continue to carry out massacres against the Alawite people in Latakia, Hama, and Homs.

The economic support of the EU, the unity of imperialism, for the fascist Colani regime is an endorsement of the massacres in Syria. Imperialist reactionaries aim to exploit the peoples of the region while protecting their collaborative lackeys with their anti-people’s policies.

While the fascist Turkish State, one of the most loyal servants of imperialism, struggles in a state of crisis and economic turmoil, it seeks both dialogue and reconciliation with the Kurdish National Movement to catch its breath, while continuing its policies of operations, arrests, and attacks. Under the guise of ‘peace, reconciliation, and dialogue,’ it aims to undermine the national liberation struggle, particularly targeting the guerrilla and organized Kurdish institutions, in order to push the Kurdish nation back from the positions it has rightfully and legitimately gained at great cost. At this point, there is no goodwill, nor can there be, in the calls made under the leadership of Tayyip Erdoğan, Devlet Bahçeli, and the bloc of the People’s Alliance.

The Kemalist fascist dictatorship, constructed with a monistic coding, is today planning to re-establish its dominance over the Kurdish nation by inflating Turkish chauvinism with a mix of Islam and Turkism.

To fall into the illusion that the fascist Turkish State will democratize is political blindness. The Turkish comprador bourgeoisie and feudal remnants share a common line in racism, monism, and ‘nationalism.’ This line is the common denominator of the bourgeois-feudal class and all reactionary cliques in Turkey. The mayors and political representatives elected by the Kurdish nation are under pressure, and many have been arrested. In Turkish Kurdistan, many municipalities are being seized through the appointment of trustees.

As of March 19, a new phase has begun with the wave of arrests targeting CHP municipalities. In this struggle for power and interests among bourgeois cliques, our people from oppressed nationalities must direct their anger and struggle against all exploitative ruling class parties and should not fall under the influence of bourgeois reactionary cliques. The organized resistance of the oppressed people will push back fascism.

With the spirit of rebellion and resistance of Newroz, we must don the historical spirit of uprising and reject all forms of deception, submission, and liquidation, as well as bowing to the bloody sword under the guise of ‘peace and reconciliation.’ We must take to the streets, amplifying rebellion, resistance, and struggle, and celebrate Newroz as a day to push back against fascist attacks.

It is our urgent duty to elevate the struggle for revolution and socialism against the imperialist capitalist exploitation system and to strengthen the common struggle and solidarity of the peoples! Newroz should be a day to organize the accumulated anger of the masses to push back against fascism and to protect Kurdish national gains; a day to stoke the fire of revolutionary and democratic struggle.

Happy Newroz, the symbol of the rebellion and resistance of the Kurdish nation and the peoples of the Middle East!
