Five community members murdered in Sierra Sur, Oaxaca, Mexico!

Yesterday, the Current of the People Red Sun spread through various media the news about the ambush perpetrated against the residents of San Sebastián Coatlán, in the Sierra Sur of Oaxaca, where five community members lost their lives, among them our comrade Eutiquio Loaeza Jiménez, who was a member of the organization and Coordinator of our Sierra Sur Regional Committee.
Today, March 25, the funeral for Eutiquio Loaeza Jiménez, Adrián Jiménez, Israel Pérez, Javier Jiménez Pérez, and Vidal Ruiz, the murdered community members from San Sebastián Coatlán, will take place. We once again express our solidarity with the victims of this aggression committed against the defenders of the land. We will continue to demand from the authorities of the old State exemplary punishment for the material and intellectual authors.

The Current of the People Red Sun condemns the acts of violence that occurred yesterday, Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the site “El Limar” on the Barranca Larga-Ventanilla road, against the residents of San Sebastián Coatlán who were called to a dialogue with San Francisco Coatlán for the recovery of timber trees generated after the opening of a road junction that connects with the road.
The residents of San Sebastián Coatlán report that they were ambushed, resulting in 5 fatalities and 5 injuries belonging to this municipality. Among the murdered is our comrade Eutiquio Loaeza Jiménez, who was a member of our organization and Coordinator of our Sierra Sur Regional Committee.
We stand in solidarity with the grief that overwhelms the families of the residents who were murdered and injured. We denounce that agrarian conflicts between different communities tend to worsen with mega-projects and economic interests that disrupt the communal network of the peoples. In this sense, we believe that the differences between the various communities can be resolved through fraternal dialogue among peasants, setting aside the interests of local bosses, companies, and the current governments. No to fratricidal struggles!
We demand:
– That the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Oaxaca clarify the events to identify the material and intellectual authors of these crimes.
– We particularly demand that the murder of our comrade Eutiquio Loaeza Jiménez does not go unpunished.
– That comprehensive medical care be guaranteed for the injured.
Justice for Eutiquio Loaeza Jiménez!
For an alternative solution built by the peoples!
Whoever governs, the rights of the people must be defended!
Let the workers govern the homeland!
