URGENT: ‘Invasão Zero’ and Military Police attack peasants in Rondônia

A Nova Democracia (AND) has recently reported on a new joint attack by the heavily armed goons of “Invasão Zero” accompanied by big landlords and military police forces. The attack is being carried out in the area of Gedeon José Duque, in Machadinho D’Oeste, Rondônia. More than 20 pickups and war weaponry ,such as shotguns and a precision rifle, have been used by the latifundium in this new attack. Additionally, a helicopter was surveilling the area for several minutes.

The Gedeon area was already attacked last week when 15 strongly armed goons linked to “Invasão Zero” attempted to invade the land. One peasant was injured in his leg during this attack. More than 120 peasant families live in the area Gedeon José Duque. The area is named in honor of Gedeon José Duque, League of Poor Peasants (LCP) leader, murdered in 2021. AND reports that this area witnesses intense conflicts for land due to the violent action of the latifundium. Military and Civilian Police work at its service, along with goons.

The owner of a bar has been detained during the attack. A white car and five armed men were seen around this location before the detention. There is no further information about where the man is now.

The goons are shooting around the area, aiming to terrorize the population.

Resistência Camponesa reports that the leader of this attack is a goon boss Gesulino Cesar Travagine Castro, already convicted to 35 years of prison in 2023 because he led a massacre.
