Videos: General Strike in Greece

A general strike took place in Greece on Wednesday 9th of April. Thousands of workers, students and pensioners took to the streets. The country got paralyzed and the transport got completely disrupted due to the consequences on airports, ports and public transport. All the flights got canceled in the country’s main airport, Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos.

The strike was summoned to demand wage increases, the signing of collective bargaining agreements, and solutions to the housing crisis and soaring cost of living. Additionally journalists were already on strike since Tuesday 8th of April.

This strike follows after another massive strike that took place in February, when hundreds of thousands took to the streets and due to the massacre of Tempi across the country and combative mobilizations occurred.
