CUPLGIA: Report on the Mobilization of April 17

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a report that we received from the Unitary Campaign for the Liberation of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah (CUPLGIA).

Below there are some photos from the gathering called by the Unitary Campaign and supported by many organizations to commemorate the Day of Palestinian Prisoners and Political Prisoners, and to once again demand the release of our comrade Georges Abdallah. The statement by the Unitary Campaign read during this initiative is also attached.

Despite a busy activist context (with two other initiatives taking place at the same time in Paris), over 400 people showed up and chanted their support for the “torches of resistance,” which are the political prisoners in Palestine, in Kanaly, in Turkey, in the Philippines, in Corsica, in the Basque Country, and elsewhere around the world. Thank you to all the individuals and organizations that were there!

A particular message was also read to highlight the struggle of Mumia Abu Jamal— a prisoner of U.S. imperialism who, like our comrade Georges Abdallah and many other prisoners, faces the brutality of life imprisonment while refusing to wave the white flag of surrender.

This initiative was part of the third battle plan announced by the Unitary Campaign back in March, validated by the majority of supporters of Georges Abdallah, to not back down until June 19 and, on the contrary, to continue the political struggle that is ours in order to further intensify, amplify, and coordinate the mobilization.
