Austria: Statement on 1st of May
Hereby we publish a unofficial translation of a call for the first of May by Action for Democratic Rights of the People (ADRV) Austria.
To the streets on the 1st of May:
DOWN WITH THE WARMONGERS AND THIEVES OF THE SOCIETY! FORWARD WORKING CLASS!
The first of May 2025 takes place in a period in which the imperialists of different countries are preparing for war, on the costs of the working class and the people. 800 billion euros will cost the fulfillment of the “ReArm Europe” plan, for the ongoing militarization and arming of Europe. Once more shall monopolistic industry profit of public budgets, without any democratic control. For this are planned 150 billion euro of credit for arming purposes.
In accordance to this the Austrian government is planning new warmongering measures and the raising of the arming budget. Additionally they reaffirm themselves in the so called “Sky shield” initiative, which doesn’t only mean an ultimate blow against the Austrian neutrality, but also the costs of this are estimated to be 7,5 billion Euro. For the re-installation of the Austrian neutrality! Against arming and militarization! Down with the warmongers!
On the other side of the same coin, there is the new formed government, a government of antidemocratic measures and restrictions. Measures like worsening of pensions, masstaxes, and the end of the educational leave, are simply the first measures and no one is even hiding about the fact that in the following years additional billions will be economized. After many years of rising prices and welfare cuts, the broad masses will have to pay once more for the crisis of the bourgeoisie and their standard of life shall be lowered. In accordance to this, the control and repression shall be installed, like by restringing the right to assembly or with the so-called “Danger control”. No to welfare cuts, cutbacks and surveillance! For the increase of real wage and defense of workers rights!
If there are cutbacks and warmongering, then we’ll stand up against it: the border is not dividing the peoples, but the classes! Meanwhile the rulers in Austria keep supporting the genocide in Palestine and react here in the country with drastic repression against the solidarity-movement, is the 1st of May the day on which we raise the international solidarity against imperialism.
The working class and the masses didn’t receive their rights as a gift, but they gained them by fight! Today it is necessary to defend these rights, if we don’t want to lose them, and aim for the increase of the already gained rights and the achievement of new ones. The 1st of May is international day of struggle of the working class, it is a day that puts the revolutionary and leading role of the working class in the struggle for political power, and socialism in the focus. For the democratic and revolutionary unification of the people! Forward working class!
Today, when the Liberation of the nazifascism is celebrating its 80th anniversary, the achievements of the antifascist struggle are under attack. Let us use this anniversary to defend these achievements! Everywhere in the world, from the midst of the heart of imperialism, the USA to India, Brazil and Palestine will the red banners be raised against imperialism on the 1st of May. Let us raise as well here in Austria the red flag of the proletariat – against the imperialist war and capitalist rule – for the friendship of people and the struggle for the political power of the people!

No to austerity packages, surveillance and decrease of workers rights!
Let’s defend and amplify the democratic and social rights of the people!
