Britain – EDITORIAL: International Workers Day 2025, forward in the construction of the Revolutionary movement and the Reconstitution of the Communist Party!

We hereby publish the call to 1st of May found in Red Flag News.

Red-Flag News has been made aware of a Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist bloc being organised in London on May 1st. The meeting point is the Marx Memorial Library (EC1R ODU) at 12:00 pm, a post announcing the bloc can be found here.

May 1st, international workers day, will soon be upon us. Though it marks the historic and combative struggle of Chicago workers for the 8 hour work day, it is not just a day to reflect on and celebrate the past, but to analyse the current situation and look at our tasks for the future.

In the 12 months that have passed since last year’s May Day, we have seen a development in revolutionary conditions across the world, and Britain is no exception. The economic crisis of overproduction which Capitalists have been grappling with since 2020 has continued, with workers in Britain still feeling inflated prices and stagnating wages as the ruling class tries harder and harder to push their losses onto them. The Labour government, which was put in power with the support of the overwhelming majority of the British ruling class, has suffered an almost instant collapse in support amongst the already small section of the population who voted for them.

The decomposition of British imperialism has extended far beyond economic losses, of course. The deepening rage of the masses in Britain means that the bourgeois ideology which dominates society must decompose into more vulgar and violent forms. Whether it be blaming immigrants for stagnating wages – evident in the rapid ascent of an emboldened far-right – or painting transgender people as the main force for violence against women – seen in the recent ruling of the reactionary supreme court – the Bourgeoisie’s response to the crisis is to unleash violence on sizable minorities and intensify conditions for revolution.

Though ultra reactionary far-right groups are being empowered by a growing section of the Bourgeoisie and are doing their best to dig their claws into the most dispossessed and impoverished sections of the working-class, the majority of the Proletariat remains entirely disillusioned in Bourgeois politics and do not vote1, providing a fertile basis to grow class-consciousness where revolutionaries are willing to go to the masses.

On an international level, imperialism is preparing for and unleashing new wars on the oppressed people of the world in a desperate attempt to solidify their reactionary rule over the world. The genocide of the people of Gaza, who dared to stand up to the occupation of their land by US imperialism, has shown the murderous nature of imperialism to millions more around the world and provided new fuel to the fire of anti-imperialist resistance. Across the world, revolutionaries are consolidating the genuine anti-imperialist factions of these movements away from the opportunist leadership of the electoral “left” and organising a steadily growing section of the masses as a force for New Democratic and Socialist Revolutions, which have the power to bury imperialism once and for all.

The Revolutionary movement in Britain, which has suffered from dispersion and weakness for decades due to the prevalence of revisionism and opportunism, has also seen definite progress in the last year. There have been several actions in support for the People’s Wars and a growing red contingent within the anti-imperialist movement seeking to unite the struggle against imperialist oppression to the international struggle of the proletariat which can lead the masses of the world into Communism.

In the storm centres of the World Proletarian Revolution, the Maoist led movements are intensifying and marching forwards. From the CPI (Maoist)’s continued defence of the people from the genocidal Operation Kagaar, to the escalation of the agrarian revolution in Brazil, and the progress of the Communist Party of the Philippines’ rectification campaign, we are seeing the world revolution march forward every day.

The task of the revolutionaries of Britain is clear. We take up our post in the World Revolution by struggling for the construction of the revolutionary movement and uniting it under the leadership of Maoism, which is the only force that can successfully lead the masses in the struggle for Socialist Revolution.

As Mao said, “If there is to be revolution, there must be a revolutionary party.”. For those of us struggling for Revolution in Britain we must take up the task of Reconstituting the revolutionary Party of the Proletariat, the Communist Party, as a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist force capable of leading the Socialist Revolution in Britain. The Proletariat has gone decades without a vanguard, their righteous struggles have been dispersed, disorganised and misled by opportunists. What is needed is an organisation of professional revolutionaries which can coordinate and lead the mass-movement toward the seizure of power and the establishment of a Proletarian state.

The road to Socialist Revolution is long and arduous, but Capitalism and Imperialism are doomed to collapse and the Proletariat is condemned to win. We are living in a situation where the masses can no longer accept living in the way they are, and the Imperialists cannot rule in the way they are. The task falls upon us to construct the instruments of the revolution which can rise to the revolutionary conditions that are developing and to carry the struggle forward until victory.

If you are interested in becoming organised in the growing Revolutionary movement, we urge you to contact us at red-flag-news-media@proton.me where we can put you in touch with groups of organisers in your area.
