Communist Committee in the Netherlands: Statement for the Martyrdom of Comrade Basavaraj

Hereby we share the statement published here.

We stand in grief, anger, and unwavering revolutionary resolve as we condemn the brutal assassination of Comrade Basavaraj—General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist)—along with 26 dedicated people’s fighters, by the repressive forces of the Indian state.

This massacre is not an isolated act of counter-insurgency—it is part of a broader and intensifying fascist war being waged by the Indian state against the most oppressed and exploited sections of society. This war, carried out in the name of “national security” and “development,” is, in reality, a war to protect the interests of the Indian state, feudal landlords, and foreign imperialists—especially U.S. and European corporations—who hunger for the land, forests, minerals, and labor of the Indian people.

Under the guise of operations like Operation Kagar , the Indian state has launched a full-spectrum assault on the revolutionary movement and on the poeple , whose lands and lives stand in the way of profit-hungry corporations and state power. It is within this context that the targeted killing of Comrade Basavaraj and 26 Maoist fighters must be understood—not as an isolated event, but as a premeditated strike meant to decapitate the revolutionary leadership and terrorize the masses into submission.

Comrade Basavaraj, a steadfast Marxist-Leninist-Maoist, was a product of the people’s struggle, forged in the furnace of class war. For over four decades, he walked the arduous and dangerous path of underground revolutionary work. Rising from the grassroots, he earned the trust and love of the masses through selfless service, political clarity, and unwavering commitment to the revolutionary cause. After the martyrdom of other senior leaders, Basavaraj took on the monumental responsibility of guiding the CPI (Maoist) through a time of state repression and strategic challenges. He upheld and advanced the revolutionary line of Maoism, mass line, and the building of red political power in the guerrilla zones.

History teaches us that revolutionary movements do not die with their leaders—they are reborn in the flames of martyrdom. Every revolutionary martyr becomes a thousand voices echoing through the hills, jungles, and slums. Their blood does not drown the movement—it fertilizes it. Their sacrifice becomes the weapon of the masses, giving rise to a new generation of militants, fighters, and leaders who carry the red banner higher.

The blood of Comrade Basavaraj and his comrades has not extinguished the flame of revolution—it has turned it into a wildfire of people’s resistance, an unquenchable fire burning in the hearts of the oppressed. It is a call to intensify the struggle, to deepen the political work among the masses, and to strike harder against the enemies of the people. It is a reminder that revolution is not a matter of one leader or one moment—but of historical necessity, collective will, and iron discipline.

We join other revolutionaries across the world in saluting Comrade Basavaraj and the 26 people’s fighters who fell in battle. Their martyrdom is not an end—it is a beginning. A red star has fallen, and many more shall rise.

We extend our deepest and sincerest solidarity to the Communist Party of India (Maoist), to the families of the fallen, and to all those continuing the path of armed and mass resistance in the face of brutal repression. Their sacrifice is not in vain. Let this massacre strengthen collective commitment to proletarian internationalism, to building red power, and to advancing people’s war wherever exploitation reigns.

We call upon all revolutionary and anti-imperialist organizations and individuals across the Netherlands to denounce this crime, to break the silence of bourgeois media, and to stand with the Indian masses in their just struggle for liberation.

Honor the Martyrs!
Intensify the People’s War!
Comrade Basavaraj is Immortal!
Long Live Marxism-Leninism-Maoism!
Long Live the Communist Party of India (Maoist)
