Mexico: Weekly Newsletter
Hereby we publish an unofficial translation of the Mexico part of the latest Weekly Newsletter by Sol Rojo.
The past 18th of June, at least 10 democratic organizations of the Oaxaca State published a joint statement where they pronounced themselves against the affects of the war against the people that is deepening in the entire country, the document expresses:
“we strongly denounce the systematic and boundless war that we the people of Oaxaca and Mexico are confronting; this war that means aggressive advance and implementation of the mega-projects of death, the displacement from land for the installation of projects, the criminalization and persecution of defenders of rights and territories, the structural violence and of other forms of oppression against those who defend their land, their territories, their natural goods and their right of decision”.
With that the demand of the presentation of Dr. Ernesto Sernas Garcia alive is being also held up again, the freedom of Arnulfo García Santos and other demands of justice that the Current of the People Red Sun and other signing organizations are holding up, like the case of the current displacement in Playa Salchi, Cuantunalco, in the coast of Oaxaca, that the comrades of the Committee for the Defense of the Indigenous Rights (CODEDI) are confronting.
In other news of the past 20th of June the comrades of the Union of the Indigenous Communities of the northern Zone of the Isthmus (UCIZONI) have celebrated 40 years of struggle and resistance, which they have commemorated in mid of a very combative march that passed through the streets of Matías Romero, in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, realizing a symbolic rally on the rail track where the Tres Transistmico is passing. In the event have also participated in a solidary form organizations like the Agrarian Indigenous Zapatist Movement (MAIZ) and the Current of the People Red Sun, among various others.
It is important that we the democratic and revolutionary forces give impulse to new efforts for the unification of our struggles in the face of the onslaught by the old State. As an organization we are committed to do all the necessary steps to put in the center the unity with principles and unity in action to construct the United Front opposing the war against the people. Long live the unity of the peoples movement! Stop the war against the people and stop the State’s terrorism!
