Hereby we share an unofficial translation of the Mexican Part of the latest Weekly Newsletter published by Sol Rojo.
On the 24th of June, the chamber of federal MPs approved anti-people measures that pave the way for the corporatization and militarization of the regime. This includes the New Law of the National Guard and reforms to the General Law of the National System of Public Security, as well as the National System of Investigation and Intelligence in Matters of Public Security. These measures represent another step toward the formation of a police state that surveils, investigates, and harasses activists, journalists, intellectuals, and political opponents, particularly those from the left movement. These are not the only reactionary reforms being proposed by the technocrat Claudia Sheinbaum. There are also the General Population Law, the General Law on Forced Disappearance of Persons, and the National System for the Search of Persons, along with reforms to the Organic Law of Federal Public Administration.
Many voices have expressed their rejection and concern regarding this bundle of reactionary reforms. The first to speak out were the searching mothers and families, supported by various collectives and organizations, who issued a statement addressing these issues. Additionally, Article 19 and the Red in Defense of Digital Rights have also raised their voices, as has the UN Human Rights Office in Mexico. It is important to recognize that these anti-people measures are part of the war against the populace that the old big-landlord-bureaucratic State is waging under the orders of Yankee imperialism. This entire “bundle” should be understood as a preventive measure against democratic movements, especially in light of the structural crisis facing the regime, which cannot be resolved by any assistance program of the “4T,” nor can it be capitalized on by any of the petty opposition Parties in Congress.
This situation presents new tasks and goals for the people’s movement as a whole, emphasizing the need to center the construction of a United Front to halt this reactionary war. It is crucial for the movement to break free from the schemes of economists and electioneers that opportunism and revisionism have imposed for decades. We, the democratic and revolutionary organizations, must focus on Unity with Principles and Unity in Action.
Down the anti-people politics of the regime! Stop the war against the people and the State terrorism! Build the United Front!
