FDLP-Ecuador: ON THE BIRTHDAY OF CHAIRMAN MAO: FOR NEW DEMOCRACY AND NEW POWER
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement published by Defense Front of the People’s Struggles (FDLP) of Ecuador on the anniversary of the birth of Chairman Mao.
On the anniversary of Chairman Mao Tse Tung’s birth, the Defense Front of the People’s Struggles of Ecuador extends a red salute to the working class, the poor peasantry, the other oppressed and exploited masses, and all the forces that, in our country and around the world, confront exploitation, oppression, and imperialist domination.
Commemorating the birth of Chairman Mao is to reaffirm a truth that remains valid today: the masses are not condemned to misery, resignation, or demobilization. Where the old State and the ruling classes seek to reduce democracy to a formality, a farce, and electoral participation controlled by the entire State apparatus, Maoism teaches that all democracy is class-based and that power comes from the barrel of a gun. In oppressed countries such as Ecuador, winning the real participation of the vast majority, under proletarian leadership, is only possible by placing the question of power at the center: destroying the reactionary State apparatus and forging, in the course of the revolutionary struggle, a new power at the service of the people.
Maoism constitutes the correct ideological line for understanding and transforming reality, because it does not get lost in empty rhetoric or reformist promises: it points to the decisive problem, Power. That is why it is a guide for action: it is verified in practice and requires concrete application to the conditions of each country, combating spontaneity, legalism, and any illusion that the old state can be reconstituted in favor of the masses.
On this path, there is a bloody confrontation with revisionism, which, in Ecuador and around the world, has become the main danger to the outbreak of the New Democratic revolution. Revisionism disarms the people politically and ideologically, preaches conciliation with the exploiters, tames indignation, and chains the struggle to electoral calendars. In contrast, Maoism contributes to the relentless struggle, without the possibility of conciliation, to affirm an independent, red, and combative class line.
From Ecuador, in the midst of crisis, dispossession, and criminal violence generated and exploited by the fascist government and the old bureaucratic-big landlord State, this anniversary calls on us to raise political consciousness and strengthen the instruments necessary not only to defend what has been achieved, but also to pave the way to defeat imperialism, eliminate semi-feudalism, and destroy bureaucratic capitalism: to leave no stone unturned of the old order that sustains the dictatorship of the big bourgeoisie and big landlords.
May the life and development of Marxism-Leninism by Chairman Mao serve to temper the class combat spirit of the working class, the poor peasantry, and the people, so that we may embark on the only task possible: the conquest of power.
HONOR AND GLORY TO CHAIRMAN MAO TSE-TUNG!
LONG LIVE THE 132ND ANNIVERSARY OF CHAIRMAN MAO’S BIRTH!
LONG LIVE MARXISM-LENINISM-MAOISM-GONZALO THOUGHT!
