Norway: Successful Anti-imperialist Event in February
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a report published by Kampkomiteen.
Kampkomiteen activists participated in an event in February in Oslo, which brought together anti-imperialists from all over Norway, as well as several participants from abroad.
The event featured lectures and debates on the international situation, anti-imperialist cooperation, “Operation Kagaar” in India, and the founding congress of the Anti-Imperialist League in April. Kampkomiteen participated with activists from several cities, who also made cultural contributions and songs.
The participants created an enthusiastic atmosphere to strengthen the anti-imperialist movement and especially to build up the new international organization, the Anti-Imperialist League. The event took place from Friday to Sunday, and in addition to lectures, discussions and culture, there was also a sports program.
On Saturday, an activist made a presentation consisting of three parts: about the international situation, about the situation in Norway and about the popular struggles in the world. The presentation gave an overview of a situation where imperialism is increasingly falling into decay and crisis, where US imperialism in particular, as the main enemy of the peoples of the world, is unleashing new aggressions and wars, and where the popular protests, struggles and wars of liberation are shaking the entire system.
On Saturday evening, a debate was carried out on anti-imperialist cooperation. Various organizations presented their views, and it was a lively debate characterized by both disagreement and agreement on various issues. Despite disagreements between different organizations, there was strong agreement that anti-imperialists can and should continue to cooperate on relevant particular issues, for example against US military bases in Norway, against NATO, in defense of Venezuelan sovereignty, against US wars in the Middle East, and in support and defense of the people of Palestine and their resistance struggle.
On Sunday, a presentation was carried out under the title “Forward with the Construction of the Anti-Imperialist Front!”. Here, an activist from Kampkomiteen spoke about the process leading up to the foundation of the new international organization, the Anti-Imperialist League, which is now underway in several countries and on several continents. The activist showed pictures and videos as examples of the activities that have been done so far in this process. The anti-imperialist movement wave in the world today was emphasized. This wave has been generated by the heroic Palestinian liberation struggle, and on the current situation in Latin America, the Middle East and India.
At the end of the event, pictures and videos were taken to express solidarity with the Indian revolution and the struggle of the Indian people, and against the counter-revolutionary extermination campaign “Operation Kagaar”. Throughout the event, a picture of Comrade Basavaraj was hung in the venue, to remind the participants of the Indian martyrs and the importance of supporting the revolution in India.
