Declaration of the Red Sun Second Political Congress
“Professor Celedonio Luis Sántibañez”
In fulfillment of the duties imposed by both the growing general crisis of imperialism and the complex system of wars in which it is drowning, as well as the popular resistance around the world, and as we bring our First Rectification Campaign to a close, 113 delegates from 23 communities in Oaxaca, Mexico City, and the State of Mexico have gathered, as well as committees from various generated organisms such as the League of Communities for the Agrarian Revolution (LCRA), the People’s Youth Brigades (BJP), the People’s Women’s Movement (MFP), the People’s Student Movement (MEP), and the Class-Conscious Current of Education Workers (COCLATE) to hold the Red Sun Second Political Congress “Professor Celedonio Luis Sántibañez.”
In plenary discussions and working groups, we analyzed how imperialist wars of aggression are an expression of the imperialists’ desperation and their demand for a new division of the world, with oppressed nations like ours serving as their primary spoils. This is expressed in direct US aggression against Somalia, Nigeria, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Venezuela, and Iran, and in the aggression of its bridgehead, the Zionist entity, which has been committing genocide in Palestine and continues to illegally attack Lebanon. The same is true of Russian imperialism’s war of occupation against Ukraine.
The heroic resistance of the peoples, on the other hand, by repeatedly thwarting the bloodthirsty ambitions of their enemies, calls for organization and leadership with a just and correct political line. They have ensured that, in no instance, have the aggressors achieved their war goals. The peoples of the world are taking up arms to resist the oppression and exploitation that imperialism seeks to intensify day by day. The four ongoing People’s Wars in Peru, Turkey, India, and the Philippines stand out as beacons of light. We also highlight the heroic Palestinian National Resistance, and within it, especially the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. We join the international call for the immediate and unconditional release of its General Secretary, Ahmad Sa’adat, and the defense of his life. He is a prisoner of war in the dungeons of the Zionist entity, and his life is being threatened under the new law—which shamelessly violates all international human rights—that seeks to impose the death penalty exclusively against Palestinian prisoners, and above all against political prisoners and prisoners of war, such as comrade Ahmad Sa’adat.
We see the international situation reflected in our country as well. The faithful lackey who formally presides over this country, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, willingly hands over national sovereignty to her imperialist masters. Drug trafficking, built by the US DEA—the ultimate drug lord—serves as a project of balkanization and as a justification for US military incursions involving drone overflights, aircraft and helicopter landings and operations, and even directly ordering operations by the Mexican army itself. At the same time, the masses of the people face an undeclared war against the people, militarization, fascistization, mega-projects of dispossession and death, etc. This has already resulted in 132,500 forced disappearances and more than 500,000 murders, according to official figures. Similarly, our Congress analyzes the patriarchal oppression against popular women and calls for the strengthening of their organization and struggles, applying proletarian feminism.
In response to this situation, and breaking with all forms of revisionism and opportunism, our Democratic Organization was founded in 2007 as a political current operating semi-clandestinely. Since 2016, it has begun its public life as the Current of the People – Red Sun, applying and reinforcing over the years the three fundamental criteria for the liberation of territories and the exercise of the embryonic forms of New Power, namely: Self-determination, Self-government, and Self-defense. Since June 2022, we have carried out our first Rectification Campaign, which culminates in this Congress, and its three objectives become permanent tasks and working methods.
This Congress pays tribute to the life and struggle of our founding comrade, a member of our historical contingent and a prominent member of the Political Commission of the Current of the People Red Sun, Celedonio Luis Sántibañez. He dedicated his life to the cause of the people, making invaluable contributions to the training of several generations of activists and popular leaders, to the strengthening of our Democratic Organization, and to its Rectification Campaign. His spirit was palpable in the work of the Congress, in the cultural contributions celebrating his life and struggle, as well as in the outcomes of this Congress.
Guided by the motto “Task set, task fulfilled!”, this Congress was prepared through a series of local meetings, workshops, and assemblies, and achieved its four main goals: the completion of the Rectification Campaign, the revolutionary reform of our Founding Documents, the renewal of our leadership structure, and the qualitative leap forward to become the Front of the People. With the fulfillment of these goals, a new stage in our history begins. We proudly declare: Front of the People—Red Sun has been founded. This front is completely opposed to any electoral, economistic, or opportunistic practices; it is built as a revolutionary mass front that aspires to establish itself as a Front/New Power, wresting power from the old State, piece by piece. The prospects are bright; we enter this new phase of the struggle with enthusiasm and redoubled determination.
