Italy – Per La Democrazia Popolare: FOR AN ANTI-FASCIST POPULAR FRONT! FOR A NEW RESISTANCE!

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a leaflet published by Per la Democrazia Popolare, which was distributed during the anti-fascist demonstrations that took place throughout Italy on April 25.

FOR AN ANTI-FASCIST POPULAR FRONT! FOR A NEW RESISTANCE! LET’S RESUME THE SHINING PATH OF THE PARTISAN

From an international perspective, the ultra-reactionary and fascist Trump presidency, along with the Nazi-Zionist regime, has become the most advanced and vanguard of the global counterrevolution and the systematic aggression and oppression of the peoples and masses worldwide. The United States is increasingly waging not only a war of aggression against its imperialist rivals in Russia and China, but is also aggressively targeting its complicit vassal European countries, aiming to discipline the reactionary camp of Western imperialists. Iran’s national resistance and the persistence of the Palestinian and Lebanese People’s Resistance have dealt a severe blow to the imperialists and their Zionist agents, forcing them to become mired in a protracted conflict in the Middle East. Despite the Indian State’s genocidal and extermination plans, the New Democratic Revolution is developing in India and, together with the People’s Wars in Peru, the Philippines, and Turkey, and the struggles of oppressed peoples, represents the most advanced point of the global revolution.

This entire situation is also causing tremors and earthquakes within Italian imperialism, the servant of Yankee imperialism, the lowest echelon of Western imperialism. The high cost of living caused by imperialist wars, the reckless policy of debt and cuts to the masses to feed the rich, is deepening social discontent and sparking a widespread, albeit still marginal and unorganized, tendency among sectors of the masses to fight back. The Palestine protests in October and the results of the March referendum clearly revealed this tendency, particularly in the most oppressed areas of the South and the islands. All this is only pushing the ruling class further down the path of fascism in the form of a police State to maintain its shaky regime. The government’s temporary retreat following the referendum does nothing to halt this process, nor does it interrupt the process of regulating the judiciary, institutional counter-reforms, and the establishment of a regime of police repression. If the Meloni government no longer appears adequate to carry forward this process, other fascist and reactionary forces are ready to take its place and continue on this path, including forces from the same “broad camp”.

All this highlights the need for joint work among communists, anti-fascists, and supporters of real democracy. This work aims to build mass organizations that oppose the advance of fascism, propose an economic program for the broad masses and wage labor union struggle against corporatism for workers’ democratic rights. These organizations fight the semi-colonial oppression that weighs on Southern Italy and the islands. They support and expand solidarity initiatives with the New Democratic People’s Wars and the struggles of oppressed peoples in countries such as Palestine, Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela. They support the construction of a popular women’s movement to counter rampant patriarchy. Collectives of Per La Democrazia Popolare are willing to work towards this goal with any interested force, organization, and collective.
