Turkey: Partizan Prisoner Fadime Özkan Cannot Receive Medical Examination
We hereby share an unofficial translation of an article published by Yeni Demokrasi today, 3rd of June.
Imprisoned Partizan Fadime Özkan cannot receive medical examination because of the soldier who refuses to leave the room.
Prisoners at Gebze Women’s Closed Prison are being denied access to healthcare.
It has been learned that Fadime Özkan, a Partizan prisoner who was taken to the hospital, was unable to be examined because a soldier refused to leave the examination room despite being asked to do so by a doctor. This same incident was repeated twice.
SEARCHES TWICE A WEEK
The prisoners also stated that their cells were searched twice a week, and that these searches were carried out with the intention of harassing the prisoners.
The prisoners who objected to these searches explained that they were taking action against repressive policies and that an investigation had been launched against them because of their actions.
