Yeni Demokrasi reports of hundreds of raids and subsequent detainment carried out in Turkey ahead of the upcoming NATO Summit to be held between July 7th and 8th. These raids are being carried out by the State in connection to the upcoming anti-NATO demonstration planned for the upcoming summit.

Denouncing the wave of raids and detainment in Turkey, the Alliance Against NATO and Imperialist War held a press conference in front of the Süreyya Opera House in Kadıköy, Istanbul.

40 volunteers of the TEMA (Turkish Foundation for Combating Soil Erosion) were detained by the gendarmerie after a picnic organized by the foundation, and were subsequently questioned about the TKP/ML.

Yeni Demokrasi reports that during the raids torture was carried out by the police, including the physical assault of a family in the Gülsuyu neighborhood of Istanbul.
